I'm 25 and I want to learn guitar from zero. Is it normal for someone my age to take a guitar course?
And where do I find one? Is it normally just me and the teacher or there are more people?

Don't
It's a dead instrument and you're way too old for it to be of any use anyway
Dead for whom? Trap might be king right now, but they can't go on a stage and play Johnny B Goode
More like: they can't go on stage and play.
It's normal, don't feel bad about your age. I've never had a teacher but I recommend you get one because the self taught path can be very bumpy and prone to making you quit guitar
I started in my 30s. It's never too late. If you can afford instructions it is the way to go. Justinguitar is solid if you want something for free on the internet. Remember to balance practicing your favorite riffs with "regular" learning. Have fun.
>Is it normal for someone my age to take a guitar course?
it doesn't matter whether it's normal or not. do you want to learn the guitar? learn the guitar
>And where do I find one?
google "guitar lessons [your city]"
>Is it normally just me and the teacher or there are more people?
it's just you and the teacher
also this
but remember to always study on your own, even stuff that your teacher did not give you lessons on yet.
Its never too late to learn an instrument.
You can take Guitar in a group or alone, ive had both and i can confidently say that being in group is a total shithow, so avoid that at all costs.
Then it is very important that you choose a teacher that teaches the things you want to learn, if you want to play rock music and learn how to solo you need to avoid classical acoustic guitar teachers that will teach you fingerstyle.
you can do it
it only takes a few years if you're serious
don't expect to manage to be an innovative creative by the time you're proficient enough but 99% of people never would be anyway and you're cringe if you have this standard or expectation
just enjoy it
It is normal. Many people be wanting to learn guitars. many things are normal.
Think of a list of songs you think are great and why.
A good teacher will use this to make it interesting for you
i’m 30 and i started 2 months ago. i’m taking it slow with the basics using fender play (prolly not the best but its alright.)
i figure i’ve spent upwards of 10,000hrs playing mmorpgs in the past 15 years and that doesn’t feel like so much. so by the time i’m 45 i’ll probably be able to write some shitty songs for my girlfriend.
you can do this anon you just need to have a good reason. don’t worry about the time it takes. sometimes it won’t be fun so if you’re impatient and your motivation is thin, you will likely not stick with it. i picked up and dropped it twice in my early 20’s trying to use shit like rocksmith and thinking i could just learn songs and understand how to play.
all i know now is like 7 chords and a handful of scales but i like to sit and noodle after practice coming up simple riffs. that feeling of playing something you like the sound of and knowing what notes you hit is really fulfilling. good luck anon.
>so by the time i’m 45 i’ll probably be able to write some shitty songs for my girlfriend.
you should be able to write shitty songs for your girlfriend before your 32nd birthday
>so by the time i’m 45 i’ll probably be able to write some shitty songs for my girlfriend.
You're gonna date a girl for 15 years and not marry her? Are you allergic to tax breaks or something?
I started a couple years ago at 25. I’m getting pretty good but I should say I have a lot of experience with wind instruments. I basically keep a guitar on the couch and play it whenever I have downtime, so certainly not an hour or two every day but sometimes I will on days off. It’s been a lot of fun. I’ve never taken lessons but they would have helped here and there for bad habits and you might need them for things like rhythm, musicality, reading sheet music (if you want to do that)
Go for it, anon. Don't let the dilettante bedroom producers here (i.e. failures) discourage you from learning an instrument if you truly have the passion for it. Though if you're just doing it for attention, then you'll quit within 2 months, just fyi
singing is the real hard thing
>I want to learn guitar from zero.
Who the fuck is zero?
he means he wants to learn the song "zero" by smashing pumpkins
I’d teach it to OP. He needs to go to a pawn shop and get a guitar already.
25 is totally normal anon. it's common for people of all ages to pick up guitar. Many people pick up guitar as a hobby after retirement, even. If you want it, you'll do it.
My advice: if you decide to get a teacher, be crystal fucking clear with them about your expectations and leave if they aren't meeting your needs. There are many, many guitar teachers who would be a good fit, so a little trial and error is normal to find the right teacher for you.
it's too late, forget about it
I started a couple months ago and I'm 23. I'm doing alright, I think.
Most guitar shops and music stores offer lessons. So your local shop might be a good place to start. Some have boards where teachers can post ads too. So look on bulletin boards around where you live.
If you find someone I would check online to see if anyone has reviewed them.
I started around 12 or 13. I taught myself. I just played along to songs until I figured it out. You can read tabs and get a general idea and learn from there, too. If you want to shred or learn stuff like theory, I’d say go for a teacher. If you just want to jam and have fun, you don’t really need help. You could even learn a lot just from watching videos. No matter what, I really think you should go for it. It’s never too late to start and have fun. Fun is the key here.
25 is too old to do anything I’m afraid. If you didn’t already start as a kid or maybe teens there’s no point with your boomer brain that’s cemented
