I think Paint It Black and Gimme Shelter are some of the greatest rock songs of all time. However, I've been very disappointed in my exploration of the Stones' discography. I've listened to Aftermath, Their Satanic Majesties, Let It Bleed, and Exile on Main St, and Paint It Black and Gimmie Shelter stick out like a fucking sore thumb in terms of quality. I'm beginning to fear the Stones are a singles band with no solid albums. The only other album of theirs I haven't listened to that I intend to is Some Girls, but no matter how good it is I doubt it'll change my overall opinion.
What am I missing bros? It pisses me off that they only have 2 kino songs. I want more.
Well everyone knows Their Satanic Majesties sucks, so you set yoursefl up for dissapointment their. I'd say listen to Beggars Banquet and Sticky Fingers- those are considered amoung their best albums, probably even their best.
beggars banquet
you're missing sticky fingers which is their best album--but overall i agree much more of a singles band. most of their early stuff was recorded wherever when they were on tour
also, you're regarded if you listened to aftermath and under my thumb didn't click. also hot rocks is all you need for anything before beggars
Under My Thumb is just a catchy, unambitious rock tune that has no catharsis or progression (like most Stones songs, honestly). It has no epic overwhelming crescendo like Paint It Black or Gimme Shelter. That's what I'm looking for. Guess I'm just retarded.
what about You Can't Always Get What You Want
Yeah alright that one's pretty good.
u might like
Sympathy for the Devil

the highlights of the stones for me are:
sympathy for the devil
you cant always get what you want
mothers little helper
19th nervous breakdown
cant you hear me knocking
respectable
>What am I missing bros?
Maturity. The Stones will sound better as you age
HOW HAS NO ONE MENTIONED EXILE ON MAIN STREET YOU FUCKING PLEBS.
Don't worry bud, I already mentioned in the OP.
Yeah sorry I only read the first couple sentences. So how did you not like it then?
It's not like I disliked it. It's perfectly competent blues rock. It's just, none of the songs clicked with me the way Paint It Black and Gimme Shelter did.
what about sympathy for the devil
rocks off is probably their best song
Give Steel Wheels a try
If you don't like it, you're probably gay
