I put $5k into my car and now the motor blew. Not buying a new engine, how can I get at least $1k back. It’s a 02 Neon and I am sure nobody on craigslist is going to pay $1k for a broken down neon. How profitable is it to sell the parts? Will I get buyers quick?
Why cant you get it machined or fix it
It had an oil leak and I ignored it and kept driving it and now It’s fricked
Then you obviously cannot take care of a car and any other car you get will just get neglected until you're in the exact same position again.
Bike or bus pass for you.
Riding the bus is so embarrassing.
At least you have the option to ride a bus. If my shit blows I'm completely fricked and have to pay $30 minimum just to get to work for one day, another $30 just to get back. For reference I'm maybe 10 miles from work.
E-scooters are a viable option. Just get the explosion proof battery charger
>willing to pay 5K
>not willing to add oil
No OP I don’t think I’m buying it
How did the 5k not include new gaskets for the engine?
It'll be cheaper to buy an engine from a scrapper and pay a mechanic to install it than buy a new car. You otherwise have $5k of good parts in this neon. Car-part.com
You think somebody who’s new to fixing cars can install the engine by theirselves
You think him telling you to have a mechanic install it means you should do it yourself? Do you not understand English?
I was asking him a question but forgot the question mark. It wasn’t supposed to come off as an insulting rhetorical question but as a genuine question if it was possible for me to just not have to pay the labor costs and to do it myself
Replacing an engine isn't even that difficult for someone to do but the equipment needed to manipulate the engine is something that most people don't have and is expensive to buy.
What website is this?
>Car-part.com
website that junkyards around the nation list car parts they have for sale
very useful if you're looking for some car that you just cannot find parts for anymore.
why did you put 5k into an 02 neon
Because I was told its cheaper to buy used and repair it when it breaks than buying a $50k car and being forced to pay someone for the next 5 years
true but at the end of the day its still a neon.
if its 5k over years then yeah fine.
That's good advice, but unfortunately your moronic ass bought a fricking dodge.
What should I get next time other than a civic?
Mord fuatang
he fell for the broke boi meme
5k into a car that's worth 2k in mint condition? While I'll be
It's worth quite a bit more than that nowadays
A shitty dodge neon that no one gave a frick when new is not going to fetch even inflated prices now unless it's an ACR. They're literal disposal trash heaps that are meant to go to a-b as reliability as a Maserati
No, it's worth quite a bit less than that now because the motor is fricking blown
you bought a slave transport zogcage and managed to fricking break it
You received sound advice, you just applied it poorly. You should have bought a well used Toyota Carrola or Honda Civic, you were doomed the second you bought the peon.
It is. You broke your car. Now you fix it.
well, if you buy another 5k neon you're still ahead of the "pay out a 50k car for 5 years" curve. and you'll have a whole car's worth of spares too.
>I put $5k into my car
>Neon
Wtf did you do man? Just fix it and get a donor car/engine if necessary
I remember you from the other thread. Just take the L, scrap the Neon, and find someone else to help you not make such fricking moronic decisions in the future. Maybe start leasing something with a warranty, that might be the best option for someone like you.
Just buy a new engine, your well moronic to begin with for spending 5k on a neon
>Neon
Now there's your problem.
>putting your life savings into a dodge neon
get a mid 90's Corolla. drive it for the rest of your life. hand it down to your children
>he put 5k into an 02 dodge neon
Frick I love this board
People who buy Chrysler products willingly are moronic.
Did the motor blow because you put 5K of wish.con parts on the engine
