I miss being a rentoid

I hate home maintenance bros and dealing with sleazebag contractors, it’s better to take advantage of small time landlords who did a bad job estimating the costs of being a property owner and rent from them while they operate at a loss. The wooden deck outside my house is rotting and it’s gonna cost 10k to repair, makes me want to kms

      >10k for a deck

LMAO, holy fuck, learn to do something yourself for once. You can literally take measurements of your current deck and have the wood pre-cut for you and just replace the wood. You've already got the footings in the ground.

I actually built a deck for my Costco pool this weekend, pic related, materials cost ~$300.

dig a hole about 2.5 feet deep for all your posts
put the posts in with some cement
build a fence with the posts
put the band board on to enclose the deck
      floor joists in
      then your deck boards
will save money to do it yourself and you could do it in 2 days

      >Just waste time fiddling around with bullshit instead of paying some retard to do it

apparently on this board some people time cost less than a mexican....thus they will spend their time building a wooden deck

You don't make 100$ an hour

That retard will charge you 30x what you would have paid doing it yourself.

Most home improvement projects barely require anything other than powertools and an IQ above 80.

Is it a deck on the ground or a second story? If it's on the ground what a wonderful opportunity to familiarize yourself with framing and demolition by taking the old deck out and rebuilding a new one. Or just do the demo and take the garbage to the dump in a home depot truck and save yourself three grand. Don't forget to change your furnace filter, clean the air vents in your water heater, clean your gutters, blow your dryer vent out, clean the condenser coils on your refrigerator, and spread some weed and feed on your lawn.

Should've bought a newer house then. My house is less than 10 years old and I won't have to repair anything on it for a very long time. By the time it gets old enough that it starts needing repairs, I'll sell it to some sucker and buy another new house that doesn't need maintenance.

Lads I'm about to buy my first house and I don't have or want a wife or family. Is it hard to maintain? I also don't want to pay meth head contractors to fix stuff. But I'm done renting. Anyone have a whole house to themselves ?

For what reason? You will have an empty living room, and empty bedroom, an empty bathroom. You're just wasting money and time. Land appreciates, the house doesn't. Can't stand insecure single homosexuals like you that think a house is a status symbol when you don't even have a family

Its not about status. You can't rent with any significant money. Are you crazy? Do you know how poor and degenerate roommates are?

I don’t get HOOMERS that try to boast about their “ownership”. Miss a few mortgage payments aka paying your rent to israelites and it’s over, government decides you’re an undesirable? Bam property seized. Can’t make your property taxes? A liens put on your home. Roof is leaking and requires a new one? 20k down the drain. Better keep up on that Maintenance too wagie those gutters need cleaned, your lawn mowed and windows repaired too or HOA will boot you from the neighborhood. Sure if you can buy it cash it’s better but i only know like 2 people under 40 with their houses paid off.

houses are overrated, and overpriced, something decent is fucking expensive and almost not worth buying one if you then have to spend twice as much on fucking repairs, or maintenance, I don't know, maybe I'll save money and buy some PLEB, or something nice to keep decorating my apartment, there are things that in themselves are not worth it

Renting vs owning is a lifestyle choice just as much as a financial one. If you can't buy a big enough house in a nice enough area for the property's appreciation to outpace the interest on your mortgage + maintenance costs, you are much better off renting and not giving yourself the headache of having a project every weekend or constant work to do. Primary residences and mortgages are liabilities, NOT assets, so don't buy into the building equity meme and lock yourself into a mortgage unless you make far more than you estimate you need, or you actually have a family to raise and need the room. Rent is not wasted money, its a better value for some.
