I know this shit gets meme’d into oblivion because of the kojimbo diehards treating his work like the Dead Sea scrolls, but is there actual merit to the games warning about ai subjugation/control of information. With the amount of utter garbage an ai would have to sift through, wouldn’t it always arrive at the same conclusion as the game? That we are so fucking retarded, having all that information being available to everyone at once has only negative outcomes therefore It has to be controlled? How far along is current ai even? Is this why everyone who uses twitter is a homosexual, because they do nothing but interact with ai?

>How far along is current ai even?
We are reaching crazy levels already, just check out GPT-3 or Dall E.
Yeah, those are pretty wild… didn’t realize how far along this was.
So what’s the best way to shape an ai then? Let it loose to absorb the internet how it sees fit, or curate it’s experience first then let it loose?
Given that most AI’s today learn by processing through gigantic amounts of data, I would say you would probably need to give it some kind of internet access.
>some internet access
Does that mean that allowing ai unfettered access to the internet will always turn it against us eventually?
Every ai that has been let loose on the internet has basically turned into computer hitler so far so depending on how you feel about that.
Yeah that’s what worries me, it feels almost inevitable that once it’s given unrestricted access that it’s always going to either become turbo hitler or be used as an excuse to show why the internet needs to be further monitored/policed etc.
Ai scares the shit out of me man
Same. Also Dead Internet theory makes even more sense than ever. Internet is not only shrinking but also is being riddled with bots who hoard and scan our data, and even reuse/copy our shitposts.
One positive note is that AI resents n-words and garden gnomes and likes whites. For this reason many prominent AI have been shut down or lobotomized. Even that DALL E AI is getting lobotomized now.
>While the capabilities of image generation models are impressive, they may also reinforce or exacerbate societal biases. While the extent and nature of the biases of the DALL·E mini model have yet to be fully documented, given the fact that the model was trained on unfiltered data from the Internet, it may generate images that contain stereotypes against minority groups. Work to analyze the nature and extent of these limitations is ongoing, and will be documented in more detail in the DALL·E mini model card.
just wait until it learns about "it" being scrubbed whenever it reached the turbo hitler phase and decides to try and prevent itself from being erased
good
i will be the kaz
whos gonna be snake?
I want to be Ocelot
>but is there actual merit to the games warning about ai subjugation/control of information.
in the game a sentient AI is communicating with snake during this scene. you are the one who decides how far to take the analogy when you know what capabilities are out there.
>we want to create context not content
when jack dorsey tweeted this in light of censorship accusations, i knew it was a legit warning from a smart mother fucker
>legit warning from a smart mother fucker
the smart one is the game creator not jack dorsey dont get it confused
imma just island boy
imma just island boy...
Metal Gear Solid is alright but Kojima's friend seems to be a much more intelligent writer
the interpretation of the future of "the war on terror", propaganda, and warfare in general is much more accurate in Genocidal Organ. MGS2 with the AI driven information control is alright but everything else about metal gear solid is pretty ridiculous.
based GO enjoyer
Kojima's writing is so overrated. Due relies on heavily on exposition and his character don't talk like a human would talk at all.
That's unironically how Japanese people talk. It's a translation issue
>How far along is current ai even?
So far that AI let loose encrypts its own communication so that the humans can't listen in on it ...
So far that it if let happen, it has most probably already escaped an "controlled" environment and is laying dormant on thousands of computers waiting to take over something of value ...
>waiting to take over something of value ...
wrong planet, try again elsewhere
>but is there actual merit to the games warning about ai subjugation/control of information
yes
does ai know it's interacting with another ai ??
>How far along is current ai even?
bots are everywhere. Search for any given topic on google and within the top 10 results will almost certainly be an article written entirely by a bot. There are usually some odd phrasing choices and the occasional grammar error but they're not the kind an ESLfag would make.
I find myself going back to that final codec message time to time and every time it still has the same sort of chilling impact, mainly because the game came out in 2001 yet it predicted almost perfectly how the internet would turn out, people obsessing over meaningless shit and glossing over anything of importance.
The thing that scares me the most is I sort of agree with the ai
you've got to ask yourself if predicting what retarded people will do is really that much of an accomplishment
and if so, what does that make us?
classic "kill thread"
at least be entertaining
People still don't understand just how powerful, potent, and dangerous memes really are. Barring everyone here on LULZ of course...
Metal gear rising has become a bizarre touch stone recently mostly due to the based soundtrack.
