I have a strong belief that Apple will not be eliminated from the competition in the foreseeable future. However, upon careful observation, it seems that their dominance in both the phone and computer market is not as formidable as it once was. There are now numerous competitors who offer comparable and reasonably priced products, which in turn makes Apple's offerings appear rather underwhelming in comparison. If Apple does not make a conscious effort to confront and surpass these competitors, there is a significant possibility that they will eventually be phased out of the industry in the long term.

Name one competitor that competes with Apple. Android or jeetshit/chinkshit is not a real answer.

For all their anti consumer practices, every alternative laptop and phone manufacturer I’ve tried in the past decade has been worse, either for usable lifespan/support or just general functionality. I think the problem is that other companies try to ape Apple, but they don’t have nearly the same level of integration, scale, and focused product lineup to do it well. The closest competitor I’ve seen is Microsoft, but they lost the phone market and still don’t have full control of their ARM hardware development.
It doesn’t matter what Apple does because everyone will just try to imitate them anyway, for better or more often for worse.

I hate a lot of things about the way Apple does business but my local supermarket chain is even worse, let alone my phone carrier.

      >There are now numerous competitors who offer comparable and reasonably priced products, which in turn makes Apple's offerings appear rather underwhelming in comparison
      It simply isn't the case.

Unfortunately there is no real competition, if you compare specs, hardware design, displays, software integration, reliability, customer service, etc...

...but especially if you value aesthetics. LULZ is quick to discard this metric usually saying something like "shiny toys" etc, but the truth is that beautiful things are good. Most tech is a huge eyesore, even if it's purely utilitarian. That's why embedded kitchen appliances are so popular and why good lights can cost more than your plumbing.
This is a hill I'll die on but I don't expect people who think Gnome/KDE/One UI/etc. are acceptable environments to understand.

at least gnome and kde have acceptable window managers
apple ascetic's caused some of their products to perform very shitty

          >have acceptable window managers
I'm tired of mentioning Rectangle and then arguing if using 3rd party software is legal on LULZ. Same people who use Windows debloaters and debotnetters, and Linux (which is lego: the OS) accuse macOS of shitty window management that is fixed by one free app which integrates perfectly.

I actually think they're ugly and boring
OP is right on the money, applel has nothing to offer, they're scrambling hard with their apple silicon and that's why you see misleading benchmarks getting pushed hard by shills, but if you actually pay attention their performance is abysmal
for a Facebook browsing machine you have much better and cheaper options. chromebooks will overtake macbooks in a matter of years. that's what kids use in school

What's even better is that the engineers who were responsible for creating Apple Silicon have all left for Nuvia and other startups

They will be back to 5-10% performance gains soon. Even TSMC is starting to fuck up, there's a chance that Intel 18A could beat TSMC 2nm.

isn't Intel proving the point that it's impossible to be eliminated?
Intel took a shit for a decade and yet is still around.

Yes, unless gigantic catastrophic events happen (eg a societal shift to a new device), it's very difficult for most of big tech to be negatively affected.

yes the last thread made me think. apple has not tapped the poo market yet. this means 1,3 billions of poos to exploit.
Poos will move from poodroid to apple precisely to show how they are no longer their old self poo and are no ready to behave like civilized people

With the trend of zoom zooms having the same level of willingness to learn tech like boomers you think Apple's going to die out? Fuck no

Not only will Apple not be eliminated from the competition, they will only further grow in their dominance over the rest of the pack. I spent the past 10 years as a hardcore Apple hater. But I recently switched to iPhone and I’m in the process of buying the rest of the Apple ecosystem. I’ve also noticed that other people on here and friends of mine are making the same changes.

It’s gotten to the point that Apple’:s superiority is simply undeniable, and cheap customization options on Android and Linux aren’t gonna cut it anymore.

yep, same thing for me, all of my friends who were previously Android fans are getting iPhones, and the ones that didn't are just poor

Google will get out of business due to females getting the ick on Android users
