I have a 96 single cab Chevy c1500 like picrel. It originally had the the 4.3 but the engine went out. How hard would it be to put in a 5.7 vortec. Or a 4.8/5.3/6.0 ls in it. What would be the easiest option?

Because it's a standard "I have X car, how easy in an engine swap" with generic picture thread that's posted daily by stoners who don't have the vehicle or a set of tools.

Can you wrench? If so, easy, if not, time for a bus pass.

If you do put the v8 in it, you will also need to swap out the gauge cluster. Not sure why, something to do with the rev limiter from what I've heard.

you'll want a tbi (88-95) 350 with everything on it, the computer, fan shroud, and the torque converter, you should be able to obtain all of this at a junkyard for under $1000

You'll need swap brackets to fit the 4.3 motor mounts, they are available on summit racing, jegs, ebay, etc

you will not need to modify the wiring harness for this swap, this is the simplest swap possible

its very popular truck, almost any swap imaginable is documented and available on the internet

Those bumpers and grilles are easy to find. I’m trying to find an early gmc grille like picrel for my Silverado
