Let's face it, games don't really need a horsepower beyond what's needed to play Skyrim/GTA V. That is, X360 capacity for 720p. Even Starfield demonstrates this, it's Morrowind at its core w/PS3 level graphics. If it worked back then, it will now, given enough time to optimize/not bloat up in the first place.

My main point was that they clearly have much less cooperation with Nvidia than Sony and Microsoft have with AMD as they're not using custom silicon and clearly have no involvement in R&D. If that wasn't the case then surely Nvidia could have produced a Turing SoC for the 2019 Switch with DLSS. That would have tremendously improved its fidelity in modern titles.

Antitrust risks. If one company locked down all of the console market, they would lose more fighting the FTC than they would selling low-margin hardware. So, AMD doesn't even put a bid in and Qualcomm/MediaTek/Samsung just aren't there, yet.
