I would have gone for a low capacity drive then just add my own 2TB.
But it sounds pretty good anyway you can increase storage later if you need it.

Vintage Thinkpads (~7-10 year old models) have donkey performance. Specs in OP are very nice. That CPU should be plenty swift, and that display panel is better than anything in vintage Thinkpads.

I want a rolling release distro which is based on Ubuntu so that I get all the needed drivers and stuff. I guess Rhino Linux could also be great.. anyway it's going to be a minimal install with i3 on top..

Are you the homosexual that asked about the AMD variant a few days ago?

Yes, the T14s. I went with this instead. I even begged for a better discount from the lenovo chat lol

Why the intel variant? It's surely way less efficient.

Unfortunately there is no AMD X1 Carbon variant..

there is little difference between the X1 and the T14s why did you go for it anyways?
T14s probably has better ports but maybe worse screen iirc

I saw a side by side picture of X1 Carbon Gen 11 and T14s Gen 4 and the T14s was nearly twice as thick as the X1. Furthermore the guy commented how the X1 feels far more premium. So form over function..

Kali isn't meant to be installed on bare metal. I'd go with Debian or openSUSE

Chinkpads are not Thinkpads. You just bought a generic expensive laptop.

People are allowed to use and like ThinkPads, you're not morally superior because you're running a 15 year old laptop.

I have both an X60s and an M2 MacBook Air. Both are good machines with their own use cases.

      I have
      Z61p
      T400
      T400
      T500
      W500
      X301
      X201s
      T420s
      T430s
      X230t
      X230
      W541
      P1 G4

Guess which one I use most, the P1. You aren't cool, the x200 isn't rare of special, it's just slow. The z61p, x301 and x201s are all rarer and just as slow as your x200. The new ThinkPads are still some of the best laptops you can buy. I have a t15g for work and it's just as solid as my w500 and actually more solid than my w541.

1920x1200 is enough for a 14" display. I choose the longer battery life..
