I am looking to buy a new pair of classic aviator style (not the curved 80s re-styling) and the current price of American Optical and Randolph Engineering aviators is pretty insane.

Back in the mid 2010s they could be had for about $100 or less, but now they’re well over $200! I appreciate that they’re USA made and high quality, but more than doubling the price in less than 10 years is just hard to swallow.

Are there any other brands out there making this style of sunglasses in high quality for less?

AO is full hebrew now I paid $70 for a pair now they’re priced higher than Rayban despite nobody knowing who the heck they are.

Rothco makes perfectly good replicas. Yes, they have UV coating and you can get them polarized. You do not pay for quality with sunglasses. These are polarized with UV400 coating. The exact same as AO, for $20.

hecking have a nice day. You just said you’re paying for quality because the Rothcos are "cancer" I post AO showing the same cancer warning now it’s "they look janky" even though they’re the exact same shit but with a higher definition camera. have a nice day, I’m serious dude.

            >calls sunglasses cheap chinese cancer glasses because of a prop 65 warning while the expensive alternatives have the same warning

can’t just admit you said something dumb or misspoke huh?

i’ve had a pair of Randolph Corsairs for 6-7 years and i love them. buy once cry once — glasses can last a long time.
they’re pretty robust and will take a lot more abuse than Rayban. Rayban Aviators are cool though
    highly recommended

I would say go vintage, but you have to be careful, in the last few years anything vintage/milataryish became extremelly sought after, some sellers are asking a ton for vintage AO frames, I’ve seen sellers asking 400-600 for a pair of those. I’m an expert, so I can’t really say what is the real market value of those.

I got a pair of polarized Costa titanium aviators off Jomashop for 75 bucks on clearance. That’s where I would look

They’re actually very bad. The paint peels off immediately from the black ones, and the hinges are extremely flimsy.
