HRT side effects

Don’t bullshit me, /lgbt/. What are the worst side effects that I’m likely to face when I take this stuff? No sugar coating. I need to know what I’m in for (Short and long term)

          >that I’m likely to face
Something that is very common is weakening of the pelvic floor due to muscle atrophy resulting in minor incontinence. If you go on HRT make sure you get into the habit of dong regular Kegels.

          >maybe i just lost genetics on that tbh
I think so. HRT is protective of bones in menopausal women.

Infertility, cancer, liver and/or kidney issues depending on scheme

          >cancer, liver and/or kidney issues depending on scheme
          Can you elaborate?

          >infertility
no. severely lessened fertility, while on hrt - but pregnancys can and do happen.
          >cancer
growing breasts puts you at the same risk of breast cancer as cis women
          >blood clots
being on estrogen puts you at the same tiny increased risk of blood clots as cis women on birth control
          >liver damage
oral estradiol goes through the liver, though this isnt a problem for healthy people. your endo will check this in blood tests.
          >kidney
some t blockers go through the kidneys but again, this goes for a ton of meds and is not a problem. your endo will check this as well.
          >osteoporosis
is a thing with puberty blockers, not with full hrt.

hrt is one of the wimpiest, most risk free types of medication you can take. the risk profile is basically the same as a cis woman on bc who takes the occasional tylenol.

          >growing breasts puts you at the same risk of breast cancer as cis women
So long as you don't add progesterone you have less risk than cis women I think. Higher than cis men ofc but supressing your testosterone basically deletes your prostate cancer risk so you're really just swapping one cancer risk for another.
          >being on estrogen puts you at the same tiny increased risk of blood clots
          Is this just on pills?

            >Is this just on pills?
ive heard as much yeah, because pills (oral, not sublingual - those are fine) require a much higher dosis for the same blood level, in turn fucking up your e1 ratio or something i forgor. my endo put me on gel for that reason at least.

              >in turn fucking up your e1 ratio or something i forgor
not the way dr powers is imagining it. in fact conversion to estrone is protective against the massive influx of estradiol to liver

              >E[thinyl]E[stradiol] shows strong and disproportionate effects on liver protein synthesis relative to estradiol.[7] The liver as well as the uterus express 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (17β-HSD), and this enzyme serves to inactivate estradiol and effectively suppress its potency in these tissues by reversibly converting it into the far less potent estrogen estrone (which has approximately 4% of the estrogenic activity of estradiol).[7] In contrast to estradiol, the 17α-ethynyl group of EE prevents oxidation of the C17β position of EE by 17β-HSD, and for this reason, EE is not inactivated in these tissues and has much stronger relative estrogenic activity in them.[7][138][11] This is the mechanism of the disproportionately strong effects of EE on hepatic protein production,[7][138] which results in a greatly increased magnitude of effect on VTE and cardiovascular risks relative to estradiol.[139]

              >On the other hand, due to the loss of inactivation of EE by 17β-HSD in the endometrium (uterus), EE is relatively more active than estradiol in the endometrium and, for this reason, is associated with a significantly lower incidence of vaginal bleeding and spotting in comparison.[7] This is particularly so in the case of combined estrogen and progestogen therapy (as in COCs or menopausal HRT), as progestogens induce the expression of 17β-HSD in the endometrium.[7] The reduced vaginal bleeding and spotting with EE is one of the main reasons that it is used in COCs instead of estradiol,[3] in spite of its potentially inferior safety profile (related to its adverse effects on hepatic protein synthesis and VTE incidence).[140]

no, still lower than that of cis women
the cancers that trannies get are the ones that young women with BRCA mutations get. the most common breast cancer is due to amount of menstrual cycles.

How much of a brainwormed degenerate piece of shit do you have to be to equate wanting to have kids with being a rapehon? trans women deserve to be parents with their own DNA if they want to be too and tbh its female brained asf

DVT, particularly on oral estradiol. Taking injections or patches/gel is less of a risk.

the majority of side effects from HRT come from your choice of anti-androgen. Spiro has possible side effects like brainfog, lower sex drive, and rare but possible hyperkalemia. The hyperkalemia risk may be affected by how much potassium you receive from food.

bicalutamide has a rare chance of liver issues but some will argue that this doesn't at all happen in healthy people? Idk, not enough research here.

cyproterone acetate has the worst side effect profile in my opinion. Possible brain tumors, blood clots, cardiovascular issues, and liver toxicity.

an important note that some people miss is that regularly seeing a doctor to check your hormone levels can prevent this stuff from getting bad. DIY hrt just isn't safe and people are gambling their health over it.

you can get your levels checked while on diy

true but I don't think enough studies have been done to show to a lower dosage prevents this either. just somewhat risky in my opinion. There's a reason its banned in the U.S.

        >you can get your levels checked while on diy
are you really that knowledgeable on endocrinology to diagnose to sort through that shit yourself? maybe you are idk but I think its irresponsible that we're promoting this all over the place. Retards take HRT too

you need to let go of your male inhibitions. i felt the same way but believe me when i tell you that when my dick stopped working i felt RELIEVED. just don’t get surgery and you’ll still get hard occasionally but you’ll probably hate it. and if you don’t use it it’ll get smol and cute, like a she-nis if you will :3
