How's your PhD going?

I am becoming an alcoholic misanthrope and I hate everything about my life, but I love my PhD project and am very excited about it. It's all I have.

I did an MSc and realized PhD students are 1) clueless 2) slaves.
No thanks. Academia is a ponzi scheme.

I'm halfway through and I still haven't published a single paper. I'm excited about my PhD project but I'm not seeing a clear path ahead because it's something no one has ever done before. Maybe I'm close to a breakthrough and I just need to be patient. Or maybe I'm taking the wrong approach and wasting time. Or worse still maybe there's a good reason no one has ever done what I'm doing and my entire project should be scrapped.

Mine is too but I'm a 1st year. I hope to God I don't end up in the same situation as you. I have an idea I'm pretty stoked about but I need to frame it in such a way that I can get good data soon.

Mind if I ask what field you're in?

Based. Maybe you'll diagnose me with some shit while we're both drunk some day.

Make sure to seek feedback from profs and peers. See if you can attend seminars, workshops, etc. related to what you're doing too. Some people basically isolate themselves in their projects and I don't think that's conducive to good thinking.

Same here. I can't get the retarded software working, but I have ideas planned out. I don't know if I'll get good results or not, but I see papers in my field don't have very good results either, so I might just write up something and hope its good enough for publication.

You don't need a high IQ to get a PhD. You just need the ability to work hard and clean the ass of your supervisors at a moments request. Which of course /misc/tards can't do either since they're lazy and have no social skills.

we behind the ears students don't know shit about science. why don't you schoolchildren wait until after you've graduated and you're actual qualified working professionals with demonstrable ability and talent before you start commenting about science on the internet?

ChatGPT can't figure out basic arithmetic, let alone academic research

chatGPT doesn't have a model of the world. science requires having a model, making change to the model and testing the model. chatGPT is can either be a toy or help you with writing regurgiated literature.

Decided to leave the second year of masters willingly for a year because my heart started to signal me that I was looking at an early (maybe 40s) heart attack and heart medicine at 25 if I were to continue without any breaks.
Passed basically all exams (expat those that you can't pass without 90% attendance because fuck me you may be an amazing educator but you didn't show up to listen to my boring lecture on educational methodology).
My lab head seemes to be malding and coping by working 20 h a day for a year now and accusing me of being lazy when I get paid peanuts and all oglf our research is not very conclusive.
