Remember, it has to:
>Have a working mobile app that doesn't kill bandwidth
>Have working notifications like any other iOS/Android app so using Firebase/Apple notification server
>Not have instances blacklisting other instances for troonshit
How would you decentralize discord?

>>Not have instances blacklisting other instances for troonshit
then it's not decentralized
/thread
>blacklisting instances for unironically good things
but why
>troon shit is unironically a good thing
Retard detected
>how do you decentralize garbage
you won't, you throw it away
return to IRC.
idk just make it p2p or something
>decentralized Discord
It already exists and is called IRC
IRC is not decentralized. You're still connecting to an IRC server to interact with users. What you want is a way to self-host Discord, not decentralized shitware.
you're confusing "decentralized" with "peer-to-peer". IRC is decentralized.
just use xmpp
>decentralize
You take your meds.
https://teamspeak.com/en/downloads/
People still use this?
What else is there really?
I just remember the "blow it up your ass" duke nukem videos that were here. I have not heard anyone mention this post 2010 until you did just now.
most of the games I play still have their "community" on ts3
That's good to hear actually. So sick of fucking discord. Glad for it, really.
I think mumble is still more popular than teamspeak, but I could be wrong.
My group of friends has been using mumble since its inception until even now. None of us are 14 year olds or homosexuals so I don't see it changing.
Signal is going to release usernames soon. Just use that for 1 on 1 conversations with people on the interwebs. I don't know of anything that will work for large servers and groups. Just assume that it will be destroyed, because it will threaten all the money dumped into discord.
https://matrix.org/
>unusable voice
>no screen sharing
>not foss
>predatory licensing
>no screen sharing
go use teams then and invite your friends into "meeting"
Matrix voice and screen sharing in 1-to-1 calls is great and group calls is just the standard Jitsi meet.
Also, matrix calls are coming soon™
Tried the beta, just werks
Honestly the smoothest experience I've had with WebRTC
It's also one of the few (if not only) federated E2EE group WebRTC calls that's not just a full mesh peer to peer.
secure p2p protocol that works like https, if anyone can self host the server and if you use a web based client, you can take discord
Zulip.
