how to stop falling for the 'self-improvement' meme?

>be me
>depressed
>go on yt, find self improvement youtubers like picrel
>watch all of their content
>start going to the gym, meditating, go on nofap, take cold showers
>gaslight myself into feeling like im doing better
>eventually get tired of the circlejerk communities and stop all together
>feel better just being myself, even if i'm a 'jeffery' or what the fuck ever

fuck this normie self improvement shit, fuck the online courses, fuck these guys for exploiting young men who didn't have fathers. this shit is what drove patrick bateman insane. the 'brotherhoods' are just 14 year old boys dickriding their yt daddies and talking about how much they're IMPROOOOOOOOVINGGGGGG

how to not fall for this trap again? i feel like i'm gonna be enticed to do it again because it's getting bigger and there's gonna be more pressure, but the whole thing is fucking gay.

Its almost like you need to actually want to improve, not just follow a script. You didnt want to improve, you looked for someone to emulate, to live through. You have no identity. Pray to Jesus and find out who you are and what he wants from you.

I am not Christian but he clearly means God, since Jesus is God and not just a person.

Self improvement aint a meme, but stop paying people for empty words. Find or design a framework of priciples to believe in. Exercise because it's good for you. Read because it's fun. Learn things you either enjoy or will use. Eat healthy food. Talk to people. Don't take bullshit.

That's literally all you have to do. The people selling you books and courses got rich selling books and courses, not because they are some ubermensch.

As someone whose been on the train since the Tim Ferriss and Tony Robbins days - I've seen just about every type of grifter there is and know how to cut wheat from the chaff by this point.

The best self improvement advice for beginners in all my years of experience:

Don't think, just start - life is not something you can just restart with new habits and reading etc etc , parts and pieces are swapped out over time as the pieces weakness becomes more relevant / when it needs to evolve. Don't try to change everything - just try to change the first thing.

    >start what?

Pick a direction and run with it for a year or more - its all hamza really did. He just stayed consistent on his youtube channel and poured all of his energy back into it. You need to find your thing to run with and just do it.The skill he was building was not self improvement - it was story telling - but you didn't see it and just stayed a consooomer

He's genuinely a fucking idiot if you actually read between the lines of what he is parroting but he's a decent audiobook narrator basically and that came by staying consistent to uploading YT videos.

For most people, this will be school. Your grades are actually supposed to be your self improvement time - but people are retarded and think they can all finesse the system.

And after doing these two - THEN you can go hard on gym , no fap , meditation etc etc - cause these things are supposed to feedback into your main endeavor - whatever that may be.

    >but but what if its the wrong thing I picked?
Based on how you write - something tells me you are young enough to make a mistake or two.

There's a lot of fucking concepts at work that I can't write here - but just get after what really matters - the needlemovers of your life. Its not bullshit ancillary habits - its your main work that you want to be known for.

    >how to not fall for this trap again?
    Start thinking for yourself.

This does not mean there is nothing to be learned or gained from others. Just exercise that powerful human brain of yours and work through a problem for once in your life instead of copying the homework of others.

    >what patterns do I see here?
    >what do those patterns mean?
    >do these patterns hold up when challenged?
    >what are the alternative conclusions to the ones I've drawn and which conclusion(s) are understood and supported the most?

It'll also help to understand that if someone is calling for your attention or consideration, they want to sell you something. Even I want to sell you something (i.e., the idea that my process works better than others). The only person in this world that won't try to exploit you, consciously or otherwise, is you. Learn to develop a process that you can trust in.

...so this "self improvement" stuff is doing random things and suddenly things will be amazing?

Improving implies that you're moving toward something. Ideally a goal you actually want. If your goal is to get girls then you should learn about that. If its to get a better job then you work towards that. If its to get good at archery then all the nofapping and cold showers in the world isn't going to make you a good archer.

Choose a goal, plot a course, and improve towards something that you actually want. If you're serious about improving, don't waste time on things that won't efficiently contribute to your goal. Unless your goal is getting good at what you mentioned, these activities are essentially masturbation as you're patting yourself on the back for "improving" when you're no closer to your goal then when you started. Save for exercising! That will improve many aspects of your life: health, attractiveness, etc.

Self-improvement isn't a meme, but the community you're in might be.

stop thinking about self improvement as a rigorous training schedule that will magically transform you into a giga alpha or something, think of it more as subtle changes you can make to your life to be more productive and generally happy and grateful about your situation/

Never listen to yt retards, find your own route with proven advice from others to steer you in the right direction. As someone who recently asked for improvement advice and got plenty, i cant disagree more. You just seem to lack will or be anti-social. The whole point of improving is to have better self confidence (for for example picking up girls), social status and health. If all you do is sit inside othee than doing some meme shit yt tells you its obvious that you wont feel a difference

going to the gym, meditating, go on nofap, take cold showers
myself into feeling like im doing better
But you were feeling and doing better. You just fell back into negative thinking. Think about it like this, what is the alternative to self-improvement? What else are you going to do? Stay how you and be depressed?

No clue who this is but
    going to the gym, meditating
Good habits that will inarguably improve your life. Keep doing these.
    >>go on nofap
Potentially good if you have a porn addiction, otherwise useless.
    >>take cold showers
    Pretty much a meme.

Anyway, you should improve yourself regardless of what youtube personalities tell you, dumb zoom. Acquire skills, health and wealth. That's what life is about. Stagnating will lead to listlessness and depression. There is no rest until you die, that's just how our brains work as humans.

Dude it's all pointless, lifting, working, self improving, everything. You will never make it and you will never live the life you thought you would live.
The younger generations are realizing early how fucked they are compared to the older gens.
Things weren't like this ten years ago, but they are now and they will only get worse.
