the fatigue is irrelevant, you're after neuroplasticity to change habits. fatigue is a side effect.

remember that if you are post 30 and 'trying to get in' you have no chance at all. because you have no attention span, no stamina. you are too easily distracted. you are a simple child.

compared to what, tyrone? Lets face it anon, your choice, me or the street shitter. You can pick the latter if you want, I'm not the one that has to live with that decision.

Stop waiting for motivation. You need to learn how to be able to do things without it. Having to justify work is the fastest way to live an unaccomplished life.

this. "trying to find motivation" is the same as saying "i'll do it later"

In my mid to late twenties I miraculously landed a job in Finance. It was spreadsheets all day with access to the DB. I learned a bit of SQL just by critically reading the queries written by Analytics. I found some VBA online that automated the ever-loving shit out of my job. Got things down to 8 hours of actual work a week. Then I decided I should learn programming for real. I used every different type of resource imaginable.

    Learn Python The Hard way
    MIT open courseware
    Codecademy
random bullshit Youtube bros who had the itch to teach their craft
    Charles Severence; Python for Informatics
    A bunch more I can't remember

I practiced on ProjectEuler. But at the end of it I couldn't actually fricking do anything except print text to the console or save a .txt. All I could do was solve math riddles. Or make " 'games' " like tic-tac-toe and Battleship via ascii in the console. None of these things would tell me how to actually make anything. Or the names of topics so I could continue learning or know what to look up.

My real skills are foreign languages. And if I didn't know anything about anything I could just open a text book and read the table of contents. "Oh, I don't know what a predicate is, I guess I can go find out." until I know everything. For some reason CS won't do that.

I gave up. Several months passed and I tried again. And I gave up again. A couple years passed and I tried again. Every time I gave up a giant weight of relief came washing over me. And every time I tried to start again I hated life. Eventually I couldn't concentrate on the material because the entire time I was just muttering to myself in my mind, cutting down the absolute dogshit pedagogy skills of the creator of the material.

I have never seen an industry so cartoonishly bad at pedagogy in my life as CS. I was stuck working for marketing managers as their Excel monkey. I had to fight for two months at my last job to get access to Toad because my bosses couldn't understand what SQL is or how it would help me as an analyst do my job. When I finally got it I blew them all away. "You can do things Analytics does for us?!? We won't have to go to the other department and deal with their strange and scary ticket system!?!"

I gave up on that shit and immigrated to Spain to teach English for 1/5 the salary but 1/3 the cost of living. I almost have permanent residency now and really REALLY need to find a way to remote work for my old salary. $50k/year in Spain means I'll be able to buy an incredible house, cash in hand, within 4 years. That's more than my petroleum engineer roommate makes. But now I have a 5 year gap in my resume. I'm going to have to spend all Summer on KhanAcademy learning shit I didn't actually know in the first place but got away with not knowing somehow. And I'm going to have to actually learn Python for real just so I can put it on my resume and get a low level analyst job that's never going to use it.
