length is more important than width,
boots that are too narrow are still able to stretch sideway,
boots that are too short are not able to stretch lengthwise.

this, with uses hoes shoes can always stretch out in width but never in length

probably want about 1/4 – 1/2 inch extra space in front of shoe

Nah, boots that are too short will always be too narrow. I’ve never tried boots or any shoes whatsoever that were too short but wide enough for my feet, thus the only important criteria when choosing shoes is width.
If the boots or shoes are wide enough, there’s a 99% chance they are also long enough to fit your feet, unless you have some odd duck tier feet that are long and very narrow.

Anons are worried about clown shoes but haven’t embraced the honk. They’ll take bunions, a woman’s disease, because they’re gays.

boots that aren’t wide enough destroy your feet
boots that aren’t long enough get destroyed
        i cannot buy new feet

How is the width? If there is wiggle room on the sides, then yeah you got a size too big. If the sides are snug and comfortable, then don’t worry about an extra inch in the toe. If you go a size down they will be too narrow and will be bad for your feet long term,

If the widest part of your feet matches the widest part of the boot you should be good to go.
If they boots are slightly too big, maybe try an insert or insole.
