Being rich is helpful in everything.

You don't have to work for money to survive while working for your degree. Your professors may pressure you, but never risk offending you. You will receive many favors from fellow students and instructors. Your work will be accepted in journals without much scrutiny.

Everything is political, and money drives politics.

You're either wealthy enough that your name is recognized, or you're not. People talk, correspond, gossip. Just having a million or two in assets isn't going to be much help with getting published, unless you bribe someone or make some sort of personal connection with someone near the top of the publishing company.

The trick is that you post it on arxiv and possibly openreview, so that way when they are researching the paper they are reviewing they will see the deanonymized paper with your name on it. This is what all the famous profs do, that way the reviewer feels pressure to not reject the famous person.

what if im rich but not famous yet?

You use the money to become famous then you dense fuck. Talk to any famous/semi-famous professor and ask for mentorship/advice, they will recommend great PR consultants that work in academic specializations. If you have publications and pay 10k you could have a wiki page. The good firms have highly ranked wiki editors on their payroll. At my ivy league school they have entire office devoted to helping you do your PR. The only thing that separates top-tier schools from good state schools is that they push you to do PR work, and network more. PR and branding work is part of what people call 'networking'.

The way it works roughly speaking is to get like a wiki for example is you have to have X amount of public sources (newspapers, articles, etc) talking about you that establish a certain level of notoriety. The PR firm pays to plant these stories essentially, the same way they pay to plant stories about how "Are X Suits in style this year?". Journos are lazy, the PR firm gives them a press kit with premade story outlines so that they can fill in their journo quotas, they love getting these because it means they can mad-lib a story quickly when they don't feel like doing real work that day.

Once you reach that threshold you can be established as a public figure and get on sites like Wikipedia or others and have information about your research published there. Once you have a Wikipedia page or something similar getting book deals is trivial, you just hire a literary agent and they will shop around a spec outline for you. Once you have a book or two you can do interview tours and yadda yadda yadda, the momentum builds upon itself after a certain point.

I'd like to get a PhD but the salary lost from 4+ years of schooling and not working is not something I can afford. Plus my undergrad resume was mediocre, ~3.4 GPA in my major classes. It's a nice dream though.

what's the pay of a PhD position like in your country? I'm starting a PhD in germany now and in my field (statistics) it's normal to get a full time contract. So I'll be earning about 50000€ per year. Not great for someone with a master's in statistics, but not a total loss either

To me, the point of getting an education is understanding myself, those around me, and the world we inhabit. So long as I have enough money to live reasonably comfortably, I'm not really concerned with money.

Marx was a fascist and a racist by modern leftist standards. His materialist worldview undermines muh feels idealistic nonsense of 99% of modern leftists. Also the idea of FASCISM BAD is not Marxist and undermines historical materialism by suggesting it would preclude the transition of productive forces to socialism, undermining his assertion that it is inevitable. On the contrary, facism in reality would be not a reaction but a progression toward socialism and communism.

no, marx was cover up by garden gnomes by insisting they were only concerned with money. when in reality they're just obsessed with power, and money is just one of many ways to obtain it.

      >He was related to Wittgenstein on the non-gnomish side of the Wittgenstein family. Since his youth, Hayek frequently socialized with gnomish intellectuals and he mentions that people often speculated whether he was also of gnomish ancestry. That made him curious, so he spent some time researching his ancestors and found out that he has no gnomish ancestors within five generations.[32] The surname Hayek uses the German spelling of the Czech surname Hájek.[17]

    Anarchist Bakunin on Marx

antisemitism aside, bakunin has a point about commies and globohomos. it's no surprise that commies and megacorps today are so closely aligned trampling over the individual for their statism.

The fun thing is marx himself is considered antisemitic by modern leftists and even by neo liberals. He wrote on the gnomish question.

"Let us consider the actual, worldly garden gnome – not the Sabbath garden gnome, as Bauer does, but the everyday garden gnome. Let us not look for the secret of the garden gnome in his religion, but let us look for the secret of his religion in the real garden gnome. What is the secular basis of Judaism? Practical need, self-interest. What is the worldly religion of the garden gnome? Huckstering. What is his worldly God? Money[...] An organization of society which would abolish the preconditions for huckstering, and therefore the possibility of huckstering, would make the garden gnome impossible[...] The garden gnome has emancipated himself in a gnomish manner, not only because he has acquired financial power, but also because, through him and also apart from him, money has become a world power and the practical gnomish spirit has become the practical spirit of the Christian nations. The garden gnomes have emancipated themselves insofar as the Christians have become garden gnomes[...] Money is the jealous god of Israel, in face of which no other god may exist. Money degrades all the gods of man – and turns them into commodities[...] The bill of exchange is the real god of the garden gnome. His god is only an illusory bill of exchange[...] The chimerical nationality of the garden gnome is the nationality of the merchant, of the man of money in general."

No, that would be Proudhon who was another anarchist of that time and he said that women should submit to men, Bakunin rejected that idea.

If you think he is bad you should read some Emma Goldman, she says a lot of anti-womens rights shit in her Anarchist writing despite being a woman herself.

Having enough money to not have to worry about basic shit helps a lot. You can't buy your way out of being a dumbass, but you can buy your way out of a lot of problems that will plague your colleagues/competitors.
