Try reading one hundred books on this subject by next year
Everything you learn must be unlearned on the path to enlightenment so don't bother with reading too much. Even the dumbest illiterate human is guided to enlightenment, in some ways they have easier time.
This can serve as the only guide.
Just read one book every three days and you will be able to answer that question at a professional level in one year. Anything that I tell you will just be wasted words, unless I tell you to figure it out for your self. You won't fucking listen and you won't perform the necessary work so just go read.
What books would you recommend?
You don't. It's just asian gnosis. Magic gatekept by conmen.
Watts is a fucking quack but what he says here is 100% correct
Buddhism is centuries older than Christianity, much less Gnosticism as a religion or spiritual movement
>Watts is a fucking quack
And he's right most of the time it's really a great synergy he had going.
watts is the ultimate cornball
>I am currently experiencing a heartbreak
you are not experiencing it
>i wish to break free from reincarnations and earthly attachments.
Why do you think some worldly belief system that doesn't confront slavery to sin will free you?
Althought they do not say so, they do expiate sins

No.
Well it's partially true to attain full enlightenment you have to pass the seven trial, opening the 4th and 7th chakra isn't enough. The first 5 chakra must be balanced before opening the 6th.
When the 7th chakra are balanced your 8th chakra called aura become Rainbow or White, this is the true enlightenment.
Simply realise that you are not the thoughts, feelings, body, reactions, memories or attachments. You are the silence that experiences them.
Meditation is to train the mind to rest in that silence.
Attachment will fade effortlessly.
Essence of the Sutra of Great Wisdom which permits us to go further
The bodhisattva of the true freedom, through the deep practice of the Great Wisdom,
understands that the body and the five skandhas (feeling, perception, thought, activity, consciousness) are nothing more than emptiness (ku) and through this understanding he helps all those who suffer.
Oh, Sariputra, phenomena are no different to emptiness; emptiness is no different to phenomena.
Phenomena return to emptiness; emptiness becomes phenomena. (Form is emptiness, emptiness is form). The five skandhas are also phenomena.
Oh, Sariputra, all existence is ku (emptiness). There is no birth, no beginning, no purity, no blemish, no increase, no decrease.
Because of this, in ku, there is no form or skandha, no eye, no ear, no nose, no tongue, no body, no consciouness.
There is no colour, no sound, no smell, no taste, no touch, no object of thought.
There is no wisdom, no ignorance, no illusion or the cessation of illusion, no decay or death,
no end to decay, no cessation of suffering.
There is no knowledge, no benefit, nor no benefit.
For the bodhisattva, thanks to this wisdom that leads us to the other side, fear and dread do not exist.
All illusion and all attachment has been cut, and he can understand the ultimate end of life, Nirvana.
All the budhhas of the past, the present and the future,
can reach the understandiing of this supreme wisdom which frees us from suffering and allows us to find reality.
Ramana Maharshi. The end.
