My state charges a 10 cent tax on those single use plastic bags, but it ended up backfiring because the 2 largest grocery store chains just stopped offering plastic bags and now charge 10 cents if you want a paper bag. The town where I work has banned plastic straws and all the places around my office have to give people paper straws. That's about all I've noticed. Oh and my state charges a 5 cent tax on the single shot nip bottles of alcohol. You can't get the money back by returning the empties like you can on the 5 cent deposit for most cans and bottles, they just keep the 5 cents.

Plastic bags were free in the before.
But now, we have to pay money for the bags now in Japan.
I don't think it's highly effective to reduce plastic.

It was never the plan, they are just making you pay again more than was already inbued in the price of all products before.

Bothering people because of a few cents seems to be a effeminate mind game of some garden gnome instead of a issue with costs.
Also replacing everything with any kind of biodegradable or reusable packaging without the drama is probably viable but for some reason triggered the negroids.

Also recycling is viable for some cases, one of the problems is separating the materials (including gross stuff).
There needs to be a well thought and minimally intrusive plan involving every step of the product’s lifetime to consolidate recycling, reuse, composting and disposal.

            Anonymous

For example, every food could be packaged in biodegradable materials, so food waste, toilet waste, food packaging and other organic trash could be a separate category that isn’t collected but buried nearby in a hole and composted.
Disposed durable goods, clean packaging, reusable packaging (for some food)… would be collected as usual, separated and redistributed.

We should also incentivize people composting and growing some of their own food at home.

                Anonymous

If done right, the compost would be there for free if anyone wanted it.
Maybe a grinder and many shalllower holes just to make it decompose faster and easier to take out.

Do the incinerators burn all of this “light” plastic? Where does all the estrogen inducing microplastic go? Do the filters really work?

In the past a lot of people used copper for cutlery/crockery/etc because it passively kills bacteria. Obviously they didn't know bacteria were a thing, but they were still able to work out that there was something going on, kind of like how people knew about biological inheritance, selective breeding etc long before we knew about genes.

Plastic should not be used unless absolutely necessary: e.g., medical tubing. Why create something that cannot be broken down for thousands of years and which leeches xenoestrogens into the environment in order to use it for like 2 minutes (eg straw, plastic utensils utensils, plastic bags etc)?

This isn’t about environmentalism. This is just about common sense.

They figured out that plastics are slowly killing us all, but they want to transition away from hem without us knowing how absolutely screwed we are.

it will result in the complete destruction of the food chain.
plastic used for vacuum sealing is the most important aspect of food preservation today and it dramatically increases shelf life, by over 10 fold.
removing it removes this completely and now the value of food production get dramatically reduced. greatly increasing starvation and nutrition harm.

on top of that plastic bags are the most economically efficient way to transport goods by a factor of between 20-50.
losing this also dramatically causes this increase in cost unnecessarily.
plastic bags are also not "single use" despite these retards thinking they are.
Its a direct attack on the poorest people, the lower and middle class that completely destroys their ability to serve and create value in competition.
it allows for the law to abuse these people further with more bullshit that they already do resulting in absolute fucking poverty being brought into our nations by force.

Kakistocracy is on a rampage destroying everyone's lives and is the #1 enemy of all mankind currently.
We have already solved what creates wealth,
we already solved what creates the vast most amount of prosperity for all people.
these things are completely inhibited and sabotaged because of the greed of complete fucking psychopathic narcissistic nut-jobs.
every one of them needs to be completely removed by tearing those institutions to the ground completely.
These institutions that made it so it is now a complete necessity for the average person to directly compete against the criminals who are using extortion to force their will of a monopoly in the market place of force. and the only way to equalize this monopoly is to destroy their capability and out do them in that marketplace.
the threat of force is equal to using force, and the people need these orgs to aid them in creating capability to make mankind enemy completely obsolete.
and that's what I think about plastic

Local convenience store stopped offering plastic bags, now only paper bags.
They don't have anything to hold the paper bags (plastic bags had a dispenser) so they just lay the paper bags on the counter so there is no place to set down your items when checking out.

I think it is good, most pollution is from 3rd world countries so I don't think anti plastic will have too much of an effect at least in the west, but our overreliance on it and the negative effects of it in the environment and for our biology should be culled.
