        raid is not backup moron.
you need an off site backup i.e. another physical drive

          Anonymous

Not him but explain to me RIGHT NOW what the point of an offsite backup is. RAID protects against drive corruption, what more do you need?
          >uhhhh but what if your house burns down or something???
Then I think I've got more important things to worry about than the loss of some data.
Also explain to me how I'm supposed to handle offsite backups, do you expect me to bury a HDD in a box outside and dig it up every month to update it or something?
          >inb4 just use someone else's computer ("""the cloud""") lol
          No.

Anon, I already have a "backup" (it's 2 mirrored drives) and IIRC they cost me like $500 each when I bought them in 2021.
It really depends on what's available, but I don't want to delete anything major.

i simply delete stuff when i'm done with it

I clear out my porn folder by uploading everything to israelitegle Drive. I don't have any dolphin porn or anything like that, so there's no need to encrypt. If I ever run out of free storage, I just make another account. I don't bother looking through anything I've saved, I just save it in case another PH purge occurs.

If I'm ever in a (uni) group project with a tech-illiterate normalfag(s), I can put everything in a folder, compress it, send it to them, and tell them to run:
    tar -xvzf ~/Downloads/Dolphins_Folder.tar.gz -C ~/Desktop/ && aplay/dev/urandom if they're a macfag, and
    tar -xvzf C:UsersFagg0tDownloadsDolphins_Folder.tar.gz -C C:UsersFagg0tDesktop if they're a wintard
Not sure if those commands are correct--I never bother memorizing them--I'd have to look through the manpage. I read that tar is supported on Mandingos 10's cmd/powershell, but if it isn't, I'll just tell them to use 7z or Winrar, and tell them that this happened because Gnu/naggers hacked them, or because they didn't pay for a Winrar license.

Remove all the movies and anime you have saved. The chance of that media disapearing from the internet is really low.
If you are really paranoid just save all the .torrent files.

The Download folders has become a nightmare ever since Firefox decided to download any PDF you open on it, regardless of whether you would want to keep it or not.

I clean drives more often, but when you become a hoarder obsessed with the fact that if you don't save you may never find it again, it becomes a lost fight. And the worst part is that the bigger the storage you have, the worse it gets, and the harder it is to clean. When i had a phone with very limited storage, weekly reviewing and deleting stuff was an habit. Now with 128gb, I never clean and I worry about the day I run out of space and spent hours deciding what to keep and what to delete.
