Wingtip collars are only acceptable when wearing a tuxedo. If you want to wear a tux often, go to the opera. You can never be overdressed for the opera.
I’ve never seen anyone show up to the opera looking like OP’s pic, other than the performers. Opera performers are probably the only people that could wear that without looking like cosplayers, and that’s because it’s their job and that’s what they’re expected to wear. Even then, it’s pretty much cosplay. The most formal thing an average joy can wear in our time is a tux, and that’s the closest OP will get to pic rel, unless he decides to study opera.

It looks off because most people expect overcoats, suits, and more formal cut clothing to be made of wool, cotton, linen, or other fabrics similar to those. Leather is more for motorcycle jackets and work coats.
I think the closest acceptable thing to this would be going full Piti Uomo and just wearing all-black classic menswear with a cape and pants tucked into tall, shiny boots. Maybe a few metal buttons on the vest and jacket and a chain or two. Most people would stare, but who cares.

Why are modern western males afraid of leather coats?
Some leather coats are OK, leather pants are definitely not.
