Did he ever comment on it? Would he have viewed it as part of the same metaphysics of presence? What may have strengthened (or weakened) Gentile’s system compared to other German idealists like Hegel in Heidegger’s eyes?
How did Heidegger view Gentiles philosophy of actualism?

Never heard of actualism before.
It was Gentile’s contribution to philosophy, and it hasn’t gotten much comparative analysis.
Is it even a real thing?
They knew of each other, met in person, and read each other's works (one or two a piece anyway.) They never commented on each other's works. I think they're just incompatible on the priority or even presence of being re: becoming/actualising
What about late, late Heidegger? Would he may have found strange common ground with Gentile given his focus on “thinking”?
Gentile:
>what if
>we fix German idealism by taking Aristotle’s le epic lonely thinking prime mover, eternally thinking about himself
>and make him the Absolute
>also theoria is now praxis and poiesis too because why not?
>enjoy my fascist Being goyim :^)
yeah I’m thinking Heidegger’s throwing Gentile in the metaphysical wastebin without more than a cursory glance
>metaphysics... le bad
>ontology... le good
Midwit
>brainlet filtered by the ontological difference
Many such cases!
>Tu quoque
As if formal fallacies were not enough, the average continental now reveals his predilection for informal fallacies
>muh informal fallacy
I guess you couldn’t find the formal fallacy, huh? Better luck next time. Maybe then you’ll have a real argument instead of snark!
I do not view either type of fallacy as necessarily invalidating yoy. Regardless you assumed and made an ass of you and me as well. Do you deny the assertion in
? Or are you mad about being called a midwit?
I called him a brainlet and he repeated the insult. L
>I called him a brainlet and he repeated the insult.
I dunno… simply repeating an insult is a stretch in this situation. You sure you understand informal fallacies?
That’s not what tu quoque is.
As a Hegelian, I find it sad that Gentile is untranslated in English except for his chud stuff. It seems quite interesting/innovative.
Heidegger imagined he was the only thinker in the world. In fact, he seemed to believe that any thought which occurred to someone else was in actuality a thought of his own and could be presented as such without any credit due to the other.
martin "hide egger" hid so many eggs that the nazis changed his name from hiedegger to hide egger. he would hide eggs in the nazi pariliament. many nazis would be like bro wtf where are all these eggs coming from! and there would be martin just chilling and smoking laughing at the pure win that was unfolding unbeknownst to the nazi parliament members. h e even hid an egg in hitlers bunker and hitler called him was like "bruh ur a savage i know it was you!!!!" and heidegger just chilled and lit up a cigar and said "yeah... lol". next day his office placard was changed to hide egger!!!! history of phil... just another win
I'm writing a paper on Actualism at the moment, I thought this thread might be a good opportunity to see other opinions.
Once again LULZ has left me disappointed.
I don't know why I even bother coming here anymore
Give it time. Why don't you share with us your thoughts?
this, share your thoughts. Be the change you wish to see
>In analytic philosophy, actualism is the view that everything there is (i.e., everything that has being, in the broadest sense) is actual.
Bergson solved this already, next
kek why would you write anything on Gentile? maybe in italy they have some esoteric profs who have a focus in him, but anywhere else is just a waste and being pretentious.
Seriously, nobody read Gentile here? I see this guy shilled all the time
Hegelian who posted earlier here, I am searching amazon and see a pod the theory of mind as pure act in addition to the doctrine of fascism bs -- will purchase and read and report back in a few weeks
From what I understand actualism in analytic parlance is a different concept. Gentile's idea is a sorta blending of theory and praxis insofar as I have gleaned...
The world as imagination supposedly -- sounds cute
