if you can't distinguish a noisy DAC from a stable one you need your ears checked.

it's not the dac that's noisy, it's the computer hardware around it leaking into the analogue output, you window licking, helmet wearing, special bus riding fucking retard.

Chances are your integrated sound card doesn't have enough wattage (or gain or whatever it's called) to drive the good speakers. It's the same reason that some speakers don't work with phone's output signal without an amp.

I don't think any self-proclaimed audiophile would use an interface like Scarlett Solo lmao.
OP probably bought it to record audio.

      >using the CPU to play audio
Definitely a bad idea on older single core celerons
But modern laptops can handle a billion channels of audio just fine these days

I think Realtek is just shit. My integrated intel audio sounded just as good as the apple usb-c dongle, and my audio interface.

the thing is it's simply impedance matching.

You're not supposed to plug large speakers on a Realtek motherboard-integrated sound card as these are rated 0.5 impedance output ohms for most workstation class ones which means it works fine with 32-200 ohm earphones, mind you realtek also co-developed most of DSD so they're as OG when it comes to hifi audio (it's also the fact dolby drivers for PC only work on realtek while vaio laptops only had realtek, even the hp beats workstation had realtek)

your scarlet dac is too shit to even get measurements from audiosciencereview so I think it's the same as other clunky external dac which probably has about ~60-100 impedance output which probably sounds good with cheap speakers but probably you just like the bass roll off (effect of worse impedance output, also increased upper mid shout).

try to play the first sound in this page while maxing out your volume https://reference-audio-analyzer.pro/en/demo-cs131.php (don't worry the sound isn't that loud)
I noticed my "audiophile dac" performed worse and had similar artifacts as disclosed in the page, in the same way a lot of audiophile meme dacs fail this test but my built in realtek card just doesn't have any issue, the other issue with external dacs is they have shitty power issues due to usb connection or with a pci slot card they start shitting out when the GPU starts pulling some watts

Crab is just that awful, speakers + apple dongle would be just as good as scarlett.

What the fuck happened to them? Their website is now full of chink hieroglyphs and the driver download speed from it is like 2kb/sec.

I literally can't hear the difference between this and my dedicated DAC.
