How can lgbt reconcile belief in god?

How can lgbt reconcile belief in god?

I know a lot of other ppl who aren't christian but still believe in the idea that there is a higher power, but they can't cultivate this basic spiritual need because of how hateful monotheist religions are

Should we start our own cult? Not sex related, maybe some sort of monotheist sect where lgbt people are fully welcome to visit and give offerings n stuff

can vouch for the uu church a little but they really aren't about god as much as they are about progressivism
i think the right strat is just following christ and knowing that the passages in the bible about hating gay people or whatever don't really apply, or wholesale forgoing the bible as a defining document and knowing that God is a force of universal love and our religions are just ways to try to systematise or understand that force

Maybe jesus tried to tell us that the abrahamics were wrong and that god wasn't the vengeful monster that people thought he was?

      god is a cope
if he's real, he probably hates you and shouldn't be worshiped

But i can't believe the universe was made out of thin air. Yes i believe in the big bang, science, evolution, medicine, but it defies the laws of physics for something to be created out of nothing

I've talked about this with my dad before, even if he is a full supporter of science and hates overly religious people, I see why he still believes in God

i agree wrt atheism and fedora materialism (daniel dennett is moronic and made me realise through his denial of consciousness that none of scientism explains anything)
i do not agree that this entails any creator of the universe is good
i believe that the creation of the universe was likely actually immensely evil from the perspective of humans and if you look around you you'll see this holds up all the time. even just looking at nature, you'll see how many parasites, how much starvation, disease, burning to death, being eaten slowly to death there is.

it's possible a deity exists but it is flat out inhuman and evil

          >flat out inhuman and evil
If the deity is evil it would've destroyed us by now, humanity has been shown time and time again to rise from extreme tragedy and turmoil, despite all the suffering that is mostly human-caused we've still moved forward, and i can't help but think it's because of some divine plan

          >it defies the laws of physics for something to be created out of nothing
thus it must have been god
and when we didn't understand where lightning came from, it must have been god
and when we didn't understand where man and life came from, it was god
and when we didn't understand where rain and floods came from, it was god
Now we understand many things that we did not understand in the past, and god has grown considerably weaker as we fill the gaps in our knowledge. It would be foolish to continue to use god as an explanation for things we currently do not understand, based on this pattern. The fact that we do not understand the big bang today is no more proof of god than the fact that we did not understand lighting 3000 years ago. This is "god of the gaps", an idea that makes up nietzsche's death of god. Eventually the gaps will be filled, and there will be no need for a magical explanation of the universe.

Most things in the universe can be explained by science but the creation of universe can't be explained by anything except God, that's what I'm saying. We even know how quantum mechanics work, at least on a rudimentary level, but scientists are no where close to understanding how the universe could even be born in the first place

no the deity wouldn't because the deity enjoys human suffering lol that's my point. the entirety of nature is set up to maximise suffering
humans dying isn't GOOD for a deity who sees us as a toy

I honestly can't say that deities like humans suffering. Every major evil in this world has been destroyed after a certain amount of time. Mongols collapsed and became completely irrelevant. Nazi germany was completely neutralized. Stalin died drowning in his own vomit and shit, Lenin died of syphilis.

There is always a bad end for the dictators and the hypocrites no matter what. They haven't won yet, and never have, most of human suffering is caused by our own free will and the things we choose to do to others

Through copium. It’s not unqiue to lgbt people though. Also as a side note it could slowly move to organizing irl meetups, you could start housechurches like how ancient christians use to do, maybe crowdfound money to create an actual place of worship, and create incentives of people to become members,

Like soup kitchens, recreational activities, you could build a little community from the ground up

            Anonymous

yeah you need more than that tho, otherwise it’s just like…a community org? you need rituals, teachings, a sense of a supernatural order, spirits deity or deities for people to connect to. the closest ones to offering that to trannies are wiccans and neopagans but they are not too organized and have their own issues.

yep christianity has convinced so many westerners that there’s no other way to do religion that the most they can think of is like, the nega-christianity of “satanism” or wiccanism. most don’t even try to understand other living religions like judaism, islam, buddhism, etc. to actually come up with a vibrant new religious idea in this age is not easy.

            Anonymous

            Yeah, that's what i mean

But I would really not advise basing any new religion on previous abrahamic beliefs. Especially not islam. People should not fear their deity, they shouldn't fear going to hell, worship should make them happy, motivated, and more appreciative of life and other people.

We should have a kind, creator deity, that loves its people, hates murder, tolerates all identities and sexualities, doesn't demand forced worship and accepts offerings and prayers warmly and selflessly

Belief in spirits and other lesser entities would be good as well, I do believe they exist to some degree, and it would make the religion seem more interesting to people.

I wouldn't want to make "demons" a major part of the folklore, as it would just make people paranoid and blame evil on the hands of external forces, when it's really just people's choices themselves

Nope. I think a good example of people not fearing their deity are those progressive unitarian churches and lgbt-friendly ones.

People go to them because they like worshipping a deity that is kind and wants the best for them. Honestly those people are more spiritually endowed than any hardcore bible thumping pastor, who only worships for the fear of the retribution of his bad deeds and actions, his worship not motivating him to be a good person, no, but only motivating him to grovel and ask for empty "forgiveness."

            I'm a trans Christian

There wasn't much to reconcile Biblically speaking. The closest thing to being trans at the time was being a Eunuch and the Ethiopian Eunuch was the first documented non-israeli convert to Christianity

I've made my peace with God. I'm a pastor's kid and was at church 3-4 days per week (by choice). Being who I am has made me a better Christian. My struggles and prayers to just either be A. "Normal" or B. Wake up as a girl, have led me to empathize so much with the suffering of others

There's a ton of accepting congregations out there. Just gotta find em

Eunuchs are very different than trans people. When the bible mentions eunuchs it means people who were actually castrated for various involuntary reasons, like slavery or servitude.

Anyways, i'm glad you've made peace with God, but i don't think YHWH is the true peace that you are looking for. Still, the homophobic verses are there in Romans & Leviticus, and you can't avoid them, and people will always recite them back to you when you try to justify your spirituality to them.

Yes, there are LGBT accepting congregations, but in short, to me, it seems like some sort of "cope." No one should stay in a belief system that has always hated what they are, and they shouldn't feel the need to reform it. We shouldn't be bound by our trauma and try to make peace with it, we need to move forward.

This is why i can't believe the abrahamic god is the Supreme Being, because his most devout followers have shown nothing but hate and contempt for the weak and marginalized.

You may not even believe it, but even the biggest mafia members are devout Catholics and god-fearers. They are the ones who set up witch trials in Boston, burned protestants in France and the Netherlands, and genocided the natives.

They are all deeply regretful of their actions, and believe the only way they can see forgiveness is by appeasing this hateful deity, and seek to run away from their actions.

Christianity is evil, this is well known. They believe God orders the murder and mutilation of babies, and that he must sacrifice his own son in order to forgive sinners. Again, most sources say the the pigfricker muhammad (pbuh) could not read and write, and had scribes do it for him. It's not really relevant, but claiming he wasn't is silly. This is commonly accepted in islam (a religion of illiterates who worship a child rapist warlord).

Matthew 19 disagrees with you here. From Jesus Himself.

"For there are eunuchs who were born that way, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others—and there are those who choose to live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it."

I live my life as being saved by Grace through faith. This grace is is unlimited and is accompanied by unconditional love from my Creator.

If I'm wrong, and my interpretation of the "homophobic" scriptures in Romans are wrong, then well...

I've sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Just like everyone else. I've done things in my life far worse than being a troony and being married to another (cis) woman. I've hurt people. I've belittled them. And I've not done things I ought to have done.

If I'm wrong, and being a troony is a sin, well it's the least of my problems. Luckily God's infinite mercy and grace covers that too.

Accepting congregations are no more a cope than any of the myriad of other theological differences that separate them, whether it's infant baptism, women in clergy, abstinence for clergy, or the concept of irresistible grace and predestination, someone will die on any of those hills. I choose Christ over all that.

Uhh except "eunuchs" were trans people of the past... and there are literally trans people here who are eunuchs.

Another thing about eunuchs is that, historically speaking, they had LOTS of sex. It was okay for them to do it with guys/girls (and vice versa). Jesus was actually arguing IN FAVOR of the whole damn system. Too bad his statement comes after one of the most GARBAGE takes in the entire Bible.

(Jesus has an absolutely shit take on divorce. Only Catholics try to abide by it).

Oh and as for Jesus being a decent guy? He wasn't. People need to actually READ the gospels.
"Whoever comes to me and does not hate mother and father, wife and children, brothers and sisters - yes and even their own life - cannot be my follower" (Luke 14:26).

People need to stop treating Jesus like this loving, forgiving dude. He literally hated his own family, including his mother (it's all over the gospels ffs)

Technology has made us more alienated from each other, but at a lot of benefits. We have more access to information, we can easily disprove misinformation and research for ourselves, we can teach ourselves new skills, would you really want to be a peasant farmer in 2000 bc who died at 30 because of a papercut infection?

You're looking at the ancient world with rose-colored eyes, you think you have no meaning here, but you have endless possibilities, more than anyone in the ancient world could've achieved.

Yeah, a lot of that third world believes in God and sees these sufferings as a test and purification rite. How can you learn anything meaningful about others without suffering? God isn't cruel, but the only way to learn hard truths is through suffering, suffering that can be minimized. What good are we as ignorant automatons with fake smiles plastered on our faces instead of guilt ridden traumatized slaves of God? Forgiven by Him and healed by Him, as a child is patched up after a long day of playing, as that day fades away into a dream.
Why did God create dissociation if He wanted us to suffer? He put flights of fancy and painkillers inside our bodies so we can withstand the torment of purification rite, of Creation, of Satan who is the God of this temporal world.

Which is interesting because when it comes to OT approved racism, sexism, child marriage, slavery, domestic abuse etc. everyone just sorta raises their shoulders and goes "eh, shitty people living in shitty times" but at the mention of these same racist, sexist, child marrying slave owning domestic abusers also having been potentially homophobic people get offended.

Kind of weird that the Hebrews ended up having a homosexuality restriction given the area they were in. The Mediterranean and near east were pretty laissez-faire about what kind of human you stuck your dick into. I've read that some hebrew social conventions such as this, the pork taboo, and hatred of dogs were purposeful attempts to distance themselves from their neighbors. I'm not sure what conditions would compel a culture to do that though.

if you're really interested into looking into why science fundamentally cannot explain anything (and neither can religion) i would advise looking into pyrrhonism, the hard problem of consciousness, the problem of scientific induction and underdetermination and the self-refuting nature of materialism

        >it defies the laws of physics for something to be created out of nothing
That's just a meme statement any scientist worth his salt ignores because it is unfalsifiable. There's no "nothing" to perform such tests on.
Secondly, God is conveniently exempt from "muh nothing comes from nothing" and conveniently needs no creator.
        >muh uncaused cause
Is a complete nonsense argument because first it is based on the logical leap that since every effect must have a cause there must be an absolute beginning; this is a conclusion that can only be reached when we explicitly add the premise that infinite regress cannot be (which itself is unfounded).
Secondly you gotta demonstrate that uncaused causes actually exist by showing one. But if you can show one exists, if causes can just pop into existence, then clearly so can the universe since it's not exempt.
        >muh uncaused cause must be singular and unique
Even Aristotle knew this to be false, and that the choice for only one uncaused cause is for aesthetic reasons only. And we now know that the universe can be very unaesthetic.

No it's just that you all pretend to have some deep understanding of the "truth" and it comes across very cringe

You play with shit and call it sex. You ravage another man's anus and call it love. Stop pretending to be gay. You're a bonobo. Actual gay men like me would never do anal sex to a boyfriend.

If the Bible and Christianity doesn't work, don't bother trying to reconcile it.

I fricking refuse to reconcile with religion. Religion has fricked up my life... and the lives of most LGBT people. People don't need religion anymore. Leave it in the past.

You reconcile it by realizing that dysphoria is the result of various intersex conditions that result fetal exposure to estrogen and thus brain development identical to that of a normative cis female, thus making dysphoric trans women intersex women and dysphoric trans men intersex men. You can learn more by joining my server Estradiocese, which you can find on disboard by searching trans Christian. The more recently bumped one is the one you want. I wonder how colonized christian people reconcile their religion as well. Are they grateful that their people were conquered so that they could be forced into salvation? That's a very weird subby headspace to live your life in. "Thank you Oppressors for saving my filthy savage soul" type shit

    >How can lgbt reconcile belief in god?
By rejecting blind faith in the doctrines of men and developing their own understanding of God.
