how can I move to japan while keeping my us tech job

title says it all, my parents are not letting me be a neet anymore now that I make 200k/yr and are gonna charge me 1500$ rent, plus they want me to sign a contract that says if I "misbehave" they get to charge me an extra 2k. I want to go to japan because weeb and I'm fluent, speaking needs work but I passed N1. My job is fully remote but it's with a US company so idk how I can get a visa.

ONLY TWO OPTIONS since u are a filty gaijin u need a work visa with a bachelors degree where a company will sponsor ur white ass, or u dump ur current useless gf, and marry a japanese women who will give u citezenship.

I think the fundamental issue here is that Japan is a miserable country to live in even for the native Japanese (salaryman giga wagecucks) let alone foreigners which Japan actively forces out via xenophobic discrimination. Move somewhere better and enjoy the anime from afar

true, place is literally a failed late stage capitalistic society, but there are nice conveniences despite xenophobia. Been there a few times and since i can speak the language I generally get more respect imo, even going to places where no gaijins are allowed I stumble in speak japanese and they let me stay kek

Buy a small house somewhere rural, hopefully you are work from home, don’t tell job unless necessary. Your parents have now seen a modicum of success from you and instantly they want to cash in. Bad parents do this, as it should be an extension from the child, not a potential imposed burden from the elder. My suggestion - face the music you need to grow up some, and learn about mortgages fixed rate.

Why sit in some spot in Japan where you won't fit in and you will just be tired of in a year? If you think Japan is so great just go stay there for a month out of the year. Have you ever even been to Japan? It's cool to visit but why the fuck would anyone in the US want to spend the majority of their life there?

my gf wants to be a singer there, she is also fluent and loves music, so I want to achieve our dream there together. right now it's a bit difficult because she has to take care of her family but I know we can both get there eventually. i just wanted to save up money and be independent, and my parents are springing this on me which is rather annoying. but at least I can be closer to her now

Lots of bad info in this thread.
You can come and live here infinitely just by having 30 million yen in the bank. You would not be allowed to work and could be deported if caught but realistically it's not investigated. As long as you're from a country that has visa waivers for Japan, which is almost all first-world countries, you can get this and renew annually to stay indefinitely as long as you always have that 3億円.
    https://www.japan.travel/en/plan/visa-info/longer-stays-program/
Also there are plenty of agencies catering to foreigners for rental apartments so it's really not a hurdle. Yes, places refuse foreigners but you'll never be shown those places if you go to an agent who works with foreign clients

      Anonymous

30 million or 300 million bro, one I can make immediately and the other will make time. Please tell me more, I can just grind bug bounties until I make 300k USD. Also if you say live there indefinitely, then I can just use my comfy WFH job while living there right? What about taxes? When will kishida and co actually start to give a fuck?

        Anonymous

Oops I fucked up my oku. It's 30 million. The designated activities visa is the one you get by going this route.
You cannot legally do your WFH job while there. It's strictly meant to be a sightseeing and spending visa. But you can risk doing it because they're not likely to check, at least for a few years, when they might get suspicious you haven't used any of those savings

How do they handle passive income, eg can I just say I live off investments? Furthermore do you have any good recommendations for property/areas that aren't super expensive? Lastly, if I leave the country (lets say I want to visit my gf) do I have to reapply for this visa every time? Thanks anon appreciate the useful info

            Anonymous

As the visa is designed to be a tourist one, you would not have tax obligations aside from the 'stealth tax' of health insurance. You could even claim back consumption tax. Therefore your office income would remain taxable only in your home country.
You would get a visa and a zairyuu card from this method so you would use the special re-entry form when leaving the country and re-entering.
You would however have to go to immigration twice a year to renew, or pay someone to do it for you. Going to immigration fucking sucks lol
As for where to live, depends what you want. I like Hyogo and Nara personally. Rural and traditional but with easy access to big cities like Kobe and Kyoto if you get the itch

how long does it take to get a response for this visa? And where can I apply? Also for apartments, how does it work if I have to sign a lease? Are there any cheap but lower lease period apartments?
Again, thanks so much for answering and I know I have a lot of questions, this is extremely useful info though

you can check reddit dot com for the largest forums in each of those categories. from my understanding, if you violate the conditions of your visa and are deported, you will be barred from reentry for a year, after which you can try to reenter. they'll probably reject your application.

you seem to be fine with living with your parents, so why is $18,000 - $42,000/year in rent so much of a dealbreaker? it is highly probable that you make more than your parents

          Anonymous

yeah I would imagine doing any sort of fuckery is a violation but they have absolutely 0 way of checking if im working remotely besides a literal audit of my bank account
It's not that I can't afford it, obviously I am in a great position financially and can afford to live elsewhere, but my goals are different. I want to save and invest aggressively in crypto, while living in a place where I have no friends and no one around me so I can improve my body/mind and skills. I want to be extremely wealthy and one of the best in the world at what I do, and I feel like moving somewhere else stifles me financially. I wouldn't be opposed to paying like 500-1000$ in rent and helping out living at home, but my parents want 1500$ AND (this is what annoys me the most) they want me to sign a contract saying if I "misbehave" (basically up to my dad's discretion) then they can charge me an extra 2000$. The fact that they want to treat me like an adult (by paying) and simultaneously feel the need to control me like this pisses me off and is completely unfair imo. I make more than my dad but not my mom who is a doctor

trust me, you're going to want to blow your brains out after half a year. been there, done that. i'd mull on this decision for a while. if you're feeling the whole "misbehaving" thing is a bit childish, tell your parents that. tell them that you agree that you are an adult and should be paying rent, but also emphasize that you should be treated like one. ask them to list out the rules of your "lease", and agree upon them in writing. treat it more like a renter's covenant that a real tenant/landlord would sign, and not the "house rules". and offer to pay at least market rent; you make more than your dad and $1,500 is ultimately a.) probably less than the going rate and b.) a rounding error in your paycheck. if you keep things professional and mature you'll probably be granted more leeway, anyways

              Anonymous

How would I blow my brains out? I enjoy what I do and I have fun sometimes (probably too much since I drink once a week and spend some time watching league)
I just want to grind on codearena and get good, there are people who can make 50-100k at my job so I want to improve, also I need to learn a lot more cryptography to keep up to date and get good
I just want to not have to worry about money man
The thing is my dad, as you can probably tell from virtue of him proposing the contract in the first place is rather childish and stubborn to the point where he wants a literal contractual agreement to make us be able to be a happy family. I literally told him it was arbitrary but he says it's his final decision and that the contract is final, but I can "clarify" what I mean by respectful behavior (I don't think he'll agree with what I have to say, again he literally wants to contractually enforce me to be happy like an automaton)
