A couple of explanations. The first is that the stuff with Warner/Discovery isn't going anywhere near as well as their PR is saying and there's a real chance they're dropped which would possibly kill, or at least severely damage, AEW.
The other, and worse, possibility is that this is all being done as Russoish worked shoot shit as a means of transitioning Tony into a Mr. McMahon style onscreen authority figure.
There's a third (and not mutually exclusive to either one) possibility that he's thin-skinned and can't take criticism.
