Government: Stop taking supplements

> USPSTF found the current evidence available is “insufficient to determine the benefits and harms of taking most vitamin, mineral and multivitamin supplements to prevent heart disease, stroke and cancer.”
USPSTF is an independent panel of experts in prevention and evidence-based medicine. The task force makes reports to Congress yearly that identify evidence gaps in research and recommends priority areas that need closer examination.

      If they move on to admitting CV disease and cancer are caused by inflammation caused by PUFAs, toxins, basedeee, pesticides, not enough sunshine, etc., then fine. But I doubt they will.

      I haven't had winter depression since I started supplementing a high quality D drop from November thru mid-June. (Live at 48 N in the Gloom Belt.) It used to hit me hard.
      Take 2 g of chewable C with flavinoids as soon as I have any hint of a sore throat. It never turns into a "cold."
      C is what I take--1-1.5 g--if I've gotten dehydrated and don't shit the next day. C and about 50 oz of pure water get everything going gently within 24 hours.
      Never have had a "flu shot" and never have had the "flu" since the late '80s when my immune system was shot due to grad school.

      B--I find the B vitamins themselves give me bronchitis, but if I take them in nutritional yeast, I'm less sensitive to flashing lights/strobing, like when you drive on tree-lined roads in the sun and it flashes on and off.

      I take Norwegian high quality fish oil for the omegas. Which I prob don't need since we have access to pastured milk and butter, my wife makes yogurt and cheese from the milk.

      We don't eat any PUFAs.

      I eat a very high quality diet thanks to my wife, but of all the ways to waste money--if waste it is, for me, and not for whatever lab rats "USPSTF" (US Postal Service The Fuck) "experts" roped in to their tests--of all the ways, their concern about this tells me more about the feds.

        That's nonsense. I take huge doses of fish oil (equivalent of 40 to 60 capsules a dose) and still have had thromboses and embolisms. Too many pro inflammatory fatty acids can increase clotting though.

    I have a pretty good diet but I take a multivitamin, a calcium+magnesium+zinc supplement, and a turmeric+ginger supplement (not as much research backing this one up yet), and the only reason I don't bother with fish oil is because I already get more than enough omega-3 from natural sources. I feel like they've made a pretty positive effect on my wellbeing and there's literally zero reason not to try, they're dirt cheap and you piss out what your body doesn't use. The only risk comes from taking 1000% RDA like some schizo because you read a dubious article about protecting yourself from MKUltra by riboflavin maxxing.

    1. You, not likely to be a doctor or dietician, not likely to be getting regular blood tests, are unlikely to know if you're taking in too much of one thing or another, so you might take a vitamin that you CAN overdose on while eating a diet that already has plenty of said vitamin.
    2. Getting vitamins and minerals from the actual food instead of pills is objectively better in 99% of cases, since they tend to come with all kinds of other good vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.

    Either way, in today's political environment, it's probably better to ignore the govt's advice on anything, it's clear they don't give a shit about us.

    There is proof that they work if correctly applied at the correct times. If you take them, you have to know how to titrate them and use them when your body won't excrete the excess. That takes a little bit of know how, but if you do it right, you will be in top shape.

    Vitamin C, Zinc, Magnesium, and Selenium are all great for health. You can also increase fertility if you titrate your vitamins correctly. That means motility and volume.

    What we really are wasting our money on is Government. They're pretty much useless at this point.

    Ashwaganda is a supplement I can attest actually does something, probably because you can't naturally find it in your normal diet.

    Vit D is good to take during the wintertime when it's hard as balls to get some sunlight, but during the summer a little jogging, meat and time outside is literally the same thing so it becomes unnecessary.

    Lion's mane might also give you brain power I dunno.

    Melatonin for normalizing sleep patterns.

    Zinc gives you massive cooms.

    The rest however are pointless unless you are malnourished, as your body will piss out the extra and in some cases even possibly harmful.

    Tried all the supplements. Everything not on this list simply does not work or does not give noticeable/measureable benefits or something on this list is just better. This saves you research time/effort.

    I've been studying vitamins and minerals for 10 years and I can tell you one thing that's clear.

    People who take Vitamins and Minerals don't seek medical attention as often as those who don't take it.

    It's hard to use it right when you got things like b12 that you wanna take 40000% of and then you got something like kalcium that you don't really wanna take more than 30% of daily recommendations.

    I've treated many and I really mean many people with all kinds of issues from hyperactivity to IBS.

    You just have to know what it does after it enters your body to know how to use it to stay healthy.

    Multivitamin of your choice, but it must have zinc picolinate as the form of zinc, else it's highly likely it's a trash formulation. Zinc oxide is worthless.
    Vitamin D3, 5000-10000iu.
    Vitamin K2 MK-7, 100mcg. It MUST be MK-7 form, everything else is trash (it's basically only in natto, do you eat natto? didn't think so).
    Magnesium optionional, prefer non-oxide forms but it's a lot of pills and cost.

    Those are the core daily supplements you should be getting. No, it isn't too much Vit D. No, K2 MK-7 is not harmful, it works synergistically with Vit D for bone, heart and immune health. You shouldn't need any more calcium than what your normal diet provides.

    Optionals: NAC, extra zinc picolinate (<60mg/d total), quercetin (w/bromelain good for allergies, lung function, cold durations), fish oil.

        that's why I noted less than 60mg a day, if someone pushes it they can learn themselves, but a multi with zinc picolinate is usually around 15mg, and zinc picolinate supplements are around 15-25mg.

    I dont care I got help from multi B-vitamin and daily 50-100ug D-vitamin. The D-vitamin helped me not to get sick so often and when I recently started taking vit B after having long covid symptoms it reduced my constant 24/7 appetite and brain fog/ADHD symptoms I had since I got my tetanus vaccine at age 11. My lingering covid exhaustion was also gone 2-3 days after I started taking multi B.
