If you knew how to read, you'd know based on my post that I haven't read five books because I can't seem to find any of the ones I'm interested in!

      This

I've been to thrift shops for books twice a month for the past 5 years and yeah that's what it is
You will see the same books over and over again in every thrift shop you go to
Usually I can find at least one book that I want, sometimes two, sometimes I'll find a clothbound 2nd printing silmarillion for $2 or a folio society book for $3
$1-2 penguin/oxford classics are the usual books I get though and I buy every single one I can see myself in the far future reading
If you don't enjoy wasting 20 minutes or so then maybe it's not for you
It's kind of turned into a hobby for me, if you just want to find books to read you should go buy them on abebooks or even go to used book stores

      This

Best books I've found at thrift stores are a copy each of the Nicomachean Ethics and the Inferno. Just keep looking and you can eventually find some still pretty normie but more intellectual books like that.

Go to your heckin wholesome local commie used bookstore and then 360 your way out when you realize the selection is barely any better and you should just have ordered from Amazon instead.

Half price books if US, the place is a godsend. Also see if some organization in your area does any used booksale fundraisers, planned parenthood used to have a massive bi-yearly dirt cheap book sale, but alas they discontinued it.

      I'll look into these thanks

Whats the problem? Tom Clancy is awesome

More a fan of the games like chaos theory

I don’t recommend going to an estate sale. It’s sad

I saw this at my local Value Village. Boils my blood to know it's not at all worth it going to thrift stores anymore cause nothing is cheap anymore.

Online: thrift books, Abe books, half-price books, goodwill
Real life: library book sales, church sales, local bookstore clearance shelf, maybe a comic book store if you want sci fi or fantasy

oh god. i went to work at a thrift store warehouse for a few weeks. Quit because it's incredibly depressing what they do.
They just throw out so much.
So much culture is just thrown away.

Can't you Americans get books for like $1-2 on abebooks used?

    >watch video about gormenghast
    >next day I wake up, check LULZ and somebody is posting about gormenghast
    >start to want to read it
    >later that day go to thrift shop and they have every volume of the penguin modern classics edition for $1 each
    Spooky stuff
I'm just about to start reading them
