GNOME 45 removes the AppMenu indicator, why?

GNOME 45 removes the AppMenu indicator, why? Because the developer doesn't have a usecase for them apparently, who would've guessed and never proposed anything before release.
https://gitlab.gnome.org/Teams/Design/os-mockups/-/issues/198

Fuck having an indicator of a focused window like every other desktop, the best part is barely anyone has talked about it in all their shitty "What's new in GNOME 45" articles. I had to go out of my way to use the Beta just to see that it was just gone. I wanted to like GNOME but they need to stop removing features for no reason except "muh usecase".

No app really used it, maybe with the exception of steam

    >why?
Because it wouldn't be a GNOME release if they didn't remove features.

Can you not read? They didn't replace the feature before release retard, they removed it from the panel and never introduced a replacement.
It would be one thing if they replaced with a QAed feature that suited the use of a focus indicator of the window but they didn't and said they'd get to it later (never in software development).

Honestly, the entire use case of GNOME itself is unclear; probably best to remove the whole project just to be safe.

This. I haven't touched that shit since Gnome 3 came out.

It's a simple focus indicator of the window. When the app is in focus it shows the icon and app title, when a window is not in focus or the workspace is changed, it doesn't show. So where this is, imagine a blank space where you would expect a indication of the window you're on.

People were crying about this indicator for years, literally ever since they added it, people were constantly screeching about it. Finally they fucking removed it and you're pretending it's bad somehow? Like, really?

It is, those people are equally dumb as the GNOME developers and they don't know basic UX design, especially for computers, the most simple design of a desktop that you could think of involves some form of focus indicator whether it be a simple highlight in the taskbar or in GNOME's case, an app icon and app title.

No app really used it, maybe with the exception of steam

They could've kept it as a focus indicator, the app menu actions could've been removed without removing the concept of focus indication to begin with.

nagger, fuck off. Nobody actually was like "OH NO I DON'T KNOW WHAT ACTIVE WINDOW IS IN FRONT OF ME, I NEED TO CHECK THE CORNER OF MY SCREEN REAL QUICK". It was a permanent useless piece of shit sitting there that 99% of the userbase never clicked because they didn't remember it's even clickable. Stop trying to make fake outrage out of nowhere.

It's not fake outrage asshole, it's basic UX in every GUI. Go fuck yourself.

It is, the general userbase wouldn't fucking care it's gone when this crap is released, everyone always hated this shit indicator, you're just retarded.

              >concept of focus indication
They could certainly emphasize it more but I think the current way they do it is perfectly fine

Your only focus indicator should not be the opacity of the controls of the window because some apps don't have that thing beyond the titlebar, especially electron apps or let's say QT6, which I've had a lot of issues with in terms of focused and unfocused window controls.

People were probably crying about it because it's so useless. So instead of making it do something useful, the GNOME devs do the GNOME thing and just remove it.
