I made a thread about scalp massaging a few weeks earlier and I googled it out of curiosity now and yes, there is scientific backing

This thread is a prime example of what happens when people with no scientific training try to use papers.

A paper published in a trash tier journal with the lead author being an editor? Hmmm… Moreover, the paper is widely disagreed with, because it’s based on an outdated theory of why hairloss happens.

Scalp massage all you want, it does nothing for hair loss.

Literally google "Robert english baldness" or "baldness blood flow theory" and you will get a thousand results about why this grifter shouldn’t be trusted and why his theories are incorrect and why you shouldn’t pay for his consultation services.

Educate yourself on how to read papers and understand them in context rather than relying on "all papers are fact". Take your finesteride and minoxidil which are based on up to date theories of alopecia, have known mechanisms, and also have long track records of working.

Are you actually stupid? Robert English literally did a study in 2019 and his finding support the theory that scalp massage promotes hair loss stabilization or regrowth. I bet you have shit hair.

      • Anonymous says:

It does nothing, literally google it instead of reading studies from someone shilling his consulting services. You’re ignoring an entire field of study to trust the word of someone trying to sell you something.

All my grandparents have perfect hair, my parents have perfect hair, my hair is perfect. I’m not worried about my hair. If you want to cope go ahead, massage your scalp, but it will do absolutely nothing. I already told you proven ways to starve off hair loss.

It just seems like you are stupid. I have read the paper. I’ve done the research and the finding support the blood flow theory that massage is good for hair growth because it promotes blood flow. Anybody who isn’t stupid and has done some research realises that although the main cause of Male pattern baldness is DHT, there are many contributing factors at play: blood flow, diet, scalp tension, sleep, medication, stress, sebum build up, inflammation…

Because of the multicausal nature of balding, it’s good to have a multicausal approach to maintain hair. Even if massage only contributed to 5% more density or some shit, it would still definitely worth doing even though it isn’t as „effective“ as finsteride and minoxidil.

I’m not sure what your agenda is? What do you gain from spreading misinformation? What do anons lose from massaging their scalp for 30 minutes every day? It costs like 10€ and you get a nice relaxing head massage which feels good. Ironically you probably spend more than 30 minutes a day massaging your penis to interracial gangbang porn.

I mean what crazy claims are you going to make next? Going for a nice little walk outside does nothing for mental health and that depressed anons should only take medication?

          • Anonymous says:

So despite there being zero evidence you spend 30 minutes a day just in case it’s 5% effective at best?

            Try rosemary oil.

          • Anonymous says:

What are you talking about? There is loads of evidence supporting that massage is good for hair growth.

Do you have problems with reading comprehension? Yes, I spend 30 minutes a day massaging my hair, time spent doing something you enjoy doing isn’t wasted. It feels good. I like it. I have great hair. Do you spent every minute of your wake life being „productive?, well clearly you don’t otherwise you wouldn’t be spreading false information on LULZ .

It’s very ironic that you are now pushing rosemary oil. Yes rosemary oil can also contribute to good hair among many strategies.

NTA but I do a little bit of scalp massage before I brush my hair because it feels nice and seems to completely control my dandruff without any shampoos or treatments.

          • Anonymous says:

            >b***hes about scalp massages being ineffective
            >proposes anon uses rosemary oil instead

Kek. This is in exactly the same tier and scalp massages – that is, it probably works but I the effectiveness is questionable

Me personally I just massage when I’m in the shower or the sauna, I’ll occasionally try rosemary/peppermint oil for the gazillionth time for a month or two and see some minor results but it’s not really worth the effort unless you’re autistic like me

The worst that can happen is that your hair has a nice healthy shine and you have an extra spring in your step.

          • Anonymous says:

So male pattern baldness is caused by DHT in the blood, but somehow increasing blood flow thus exposing follicles to even more DHT will somehow be helpful?

          • Anonymous says:

Yes this is correct. DHT deprives the scalp of blood. People who high blood flow have low DHT on the scalp because increased bloodflow causes increased circulation leading the DHT away from the scalp. Blood flow is essential in delivering nutrients and oxygen to your hair follicles thus enabling them to regrow hair.

You’re spending over 4 work weeks every year desperately clinging to the idea that you’re delaying the inevitable

          • Anonymous says:

The ‘waste of time’ argument is fairly shallow. He could be doing this while shit posting on LULZ, or watching anime etc.

            kek
Also, almost everyone posting in this thread spends more than 30 minutes on LULZ everyday, which literally causes malding

    • future wife says:

this is true but scalp massages still work to improve hair health and promore hair growth. also it exfoliates the scalp, making it harder for dandruff and plugged cuticules to form, which can cause hairloss if the folicule scars, even tho that is rather rare.

        • Anonymous says:

Are you stupid? It literally has been proven to lead to thicker hair, just because you say it doesn’t work doesn’t make it true.

          30 min a day
          210 min a week
          182 hours a year

Yeah sure your math checks out. This is correct. This is a excellent use of time. But I have to ask you, do you or do you not watch porn? I’m presuming you do. You are spending more time masturbating your penis than I do massaging my scalp. I highly doubt you are being productive for every moment you are awake, nobody lives like this.

You do realise you can massage your scalp whilst doing other things because you have two hands? Whilst listening to a podcasts, watching netflix, walking around the house, chilling in bed, hell you could even massage your scalp whilst massaging your dick. I’m giving my self a nice lovely scalp massage right now when phoneposting and drinking coffee. Do you realise you can massage your scalp whilst taking finasteride and minoxidil?

What exactly is your agenda anyway? Are you too poor to afford 10$ for scalp massage? Are you scared of new things? Are you just arguing for the sake of arguing because you are lonely? Do you not enjoy experiencing pleasure through your body? Are you incapable of experiencing pleasure due to depression? Are you against other anons experiencing pleasure? Do you want anons to not have thicker hair? Look at this woman, she is basically having an orgasm from this electric scalp massager. Do you understand that it feels good? Are you so detached from your own body that the concept of experiencing pleasure with your body is completely alien to you because you live in a constant state of fear and misery?

Does the scalp massage make you angry because you’re an incel and the scalp massager reminds you of how it would feel if a girl would run her fingers through your hair?

            >Are you stupid? It literally has been proven to lead to thicker hair, just because you say it doesn’t work doesn’t make it true.
The proposed mechanism was debunked decades ago, all you have is a self reported study vs the entire corpus of knowledge saying it doesn’t work.

I get that you are desperate to cling on to your youth, but there are many proven ways to look into, scalp massage just isn’t one of them.

          • Anonymous says:

Great where is this entire corpus of knowledge saying it doesn‘t have an effect on hairgrowth? I’m literally trying my best to find a study which didn’t find that massage lead to a statistically significant amount of regrowth.

            Massage leads to regrowth:

These studies find that daily scalp massage lowers stress hormone, blood pressure, and heart rate of healthy people. negative effects on hair growth as they can disrupt the hair growth cycle and can lead to hair thinning and hair loss. If you reducestress levels through scalp massage, you can potentially improve hair health and promote hair growth:

Heres a „study“ from 1950 showing that infants who run their head on a pillow can loose hair. Is this what you mean by the entire corpus of saying it doesn’t work?
            https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1365-2133.1950.tb14381.x

Like where are there studies showing that hair massage has no impact on hair growth? I’m trying my best to find one. Help me out here.

          • Anonymous says:

In other words male pattern baldness is caused by DHT in the blood so increasing blood flow thus exposing follicles to even more DHT will obviously accelerate hair loss.

          • Anonymous says:

No the opposite increased bloodflow leads to increased circulation leading DHT away from the scalp. People with no hair have high DHT in the scalp and low bloodflow and people with good hair have high bloodflower and have less DHT in scalp or atleast less sensitive to it.

          • Anonymous says:

Well in other words you are stupid. If this was the case, than minoxidil (which causes increased bloodflow) would make your hair fall out and scalp massage (that also increases bloodflow) would also make your hair fall out when the opposite is the case.

Enjoy balding whilst I’m going to take hair thickness and volume to a whole new level with marginal gains.

I do everytime i shower to get the shampoo deeper and get the grit off, scalp feels really dirty when I don’t do it. if it prevents hair loss a bit then cool but if not i dont really care because i feel cleaner doing it

  3. Anonymous says:

But I am. I have trichotillomania and managed to curb it by instead of pulling my hair I now massage my scalp. So if I get urges I’ll just massage instead and I get thick hair instead of pulling hair out

      I read all of them.

this nigga citing studies from 1950

Your reading comprehension is really bad. Read what I wrote again.
