Genuine question: what are thoughts on non-believers mocking Islam?

I'm posing this as a genuine question because I am curious - I was very close friends with a hijabi woman who is very conservative and close with her faith. We followed each other on twitter and she saw that I had liked a tweet that contained an offensive depiction of hijabis. The actual reason for liking this tweet had nothing to do with finding it funny or agreeing with it, but she does not seem to care. Pretty sure she hates me now so I wanted to get some more context for this.

For context, I am not an atheist, but do not practice any particular religion. My beliefs are strictly polytheistic and I have had multiple conversations with her about faith. Do Muslims generally flip their opinion of you the instant they interpret your actions as mocking of their faith?

The tweet in question:
https://twitter.com/kukuruyo/status/1613150557572681733?s=46&t=d4c5rZGRyv8iBY3S2P6xlg

Note, it was only the second picture that she mentioned to me. She interpreted it as mocking the Quran (her words). I have already profusely apologized for it, but she basically told me that she didn't see any value in it and that something had "clicked" when she saw that I had liked the post.

Most muslim women are incapable of any sophisticated or abstract thinking. It's actually way worse than how people stereotype the Chinese.
They will either lash out or do that disgusting thing where they roll their eyes up into their sockets if you do something that counters their beyond-parody worldview.

It's just straight up disrespectful. All the more so because Muslims are not allowed to do it.

You still will though. You're the last of the Abrahamics that needs to learn to chill the frick out. Your religion has a lot of good tenets, but it's just Arab supremacy and there's a lot of stubborn ignorant morons. I don't get the hate for people east of Pakistan. Indians and east Asians are pretty chill, but Muslims dislike them for their religions.

Those Muslims who do are mostly salty sandBlack folk who have beef with pajeets and Arab Christians. Arabs in general are very confrontational people

The tweet is making fun of our religion and you've shown support by liking it. You didn't know better so no big deal if you don't do it again

what does this have to do with the Islamic faith? Some humans do horrible things in the name of religion and Muslims absolutely do not condone that behaviour. Our faith strictly prohibits that kind of atrocity.

what these people are doing is a horrible thing and they will be questioned on the day of judgement. If I decide tomorrow to steal/lie/cheat/kill a non Muslim and don't repent, believe me Allah will be extremely angry

I'll be perfectly honest I don't think I've ever cared less about anything posted on this board "this one muslim girl on twitter i maybe mad at me I think even though we apologized 50 times over because I liked a XD shitpost on twitter"

best of luck with that, no need to frame it in a "but what is Islam" way.

I'll be perfectly honest, I don't think I've ever read a more useless response to a post on any forum, period.

This is somebody I was close with IRL fwiw, not just some random e-friend, because obviously that would be fricking moronic.

I would imagine anyone would think less of you if you mocked their religion to them, regardless of which religion they follow. If they don't care than they aren't really religious

I am Muslim and I go on the Internet. I've seen it all. There is no 'safe space' for us outside of Islam centered sites. Anything offensive barely registers in my mind. If anything, I just think "typical". And most if not all the offensive things that are said has been said since the prophet's (SAW) time anyways. It doesn't help when verses are cherry picked and fake ones are shared, it really just makes it apparent most people on the Internet are mostly just Americans, a few other Western countries and Indians that just believes the Islam-hating media they consume anyways.

I'm Muslim and that Tweet is nothing lmao. If you're a open Muslim living in the west you'll have to grow some thick skin, if you don't you move back or become one of those homosexual types like Hassan Piker

I appreciate the insight on this. My reason for posting was to see gain this perspective.

That said, I feel like most Muslims probably feel pretty similarly. To me, the only thing even remotely offensive about the tweet is the second image due to the sexualized depiction of maybe two characters.

It’s irksome that somebody I was close with seems to think I’m some irredeemable bigot due to interacting with some person’s shitpost.

        >some irredeemable bigot

She probably doesn't think that. Personally speaking, what you did is so normalized that it wouldn't cause me to hate someone. Like I said, I would just think "typical". Most likely, your behavior may have been 'off' around and she took your supposed hate of Islam to be the reason. Don't take offense, but if there was really no other cause for her to avoid you, she probably just sees you as a waste of time or an unhealthy person to be around. But I don't think it will take much to convince her that you didn't really mean it unless she's a sensitive person. Most that are used to hate can shrug it off easily.

Your concern troll is obvious brother. The second picture is a caricature of all stereotypical things about muslims and about islam. A terrorist holding an AK-47, depicting the 'houri' in an anime big boob way and adding a goat for good measure.
Hell I'm not even muslim and I know that its an islamophobic post.

Your friend is not stupid enough to believe you are saying things in good faith.

Except it’s not a concern troll post, not even close. It’s clear that I know the second picture is a shit-tier caricatured depiction of Muslims. Why would I waste time and set up an entire thread like this just to bait reactions? It has nothing to do with my original question.
