Thoughts on the Genesis G70? I want to get the new 2024 version with all the add ons in AWD (it'll be like 55k or something?). I got a a comfy remote job awhile back and this will be my first time buying a nice car in that price range, and after a lot of research I decided this is the best new luxury sports car under 60k (starts at like 40k~ for the base model)
It just looks really sexy, and so does the interior. I want to get it in grey with a red interior, or black interior with red accents.
>inb4 Hyundai
I don't care.
Are ALL the threads on LULZ just paid advertising or pornbots these days?
I dunno man, whats that got to do with my thread? Do you think this is a paid advertisement? I'm just looking for other people's opinions before I drop 50k~ on a car.
It certainly reads like an ad. I can't figure why anyone would call that ugly bug faced egg thing sexy, a pigfat awd flappy paddle mess a sports car, a Hyundai a luxury car, or drop $50k on something known to be wildly unreliable and just say "don't care" unless they were being paid to gaslight.
If you are genuinely considering buying one, which I doubt, a lightly used one would be cheaper, look better, and could be had with a proper three pedal RWD layout that would be miles better to drive. But it's still a Hyundai and there are much better used cars out there too.
The complete lack of responses to you makes me chuckle. tbh I think there's a non-zero chance this whole thread is paid shills or just spam bots going at it.
If OP is not a shill my only input is to -AVOID- AWD if you're looking for a sporty sedan, especially from unreliable makes like Hyundai. It's more weight, more load on the engine/suspension, more power loss getting to the wheels, overall it slows you down and wastes fuel. If you're worried about snow just don't be a pussy. AWD makes a car all around less sporty after the initial launch, and nobody cares to stoplight race your knockoff luxury car.
I literally replied to him in the third post explaining I'm not a shill. Dunno why everyone is so paranoid, if I make a thread to discuss any new car it will come off as a marketing post I guess.
I live in NOVA so not much snow here, could probably just go with RWD, but my understanding with the AWD car is that you can enable/disable it when you need it. I am not very familiar with the engineering behind AWD So idk if there is some downside to having it as you said. I could just leave that particular feature out, would make the purchase cheaper.
I don't want to lease a car dude, I want to buy and own one. The G80 is a much more expensive car. I am not opposed to it but it's just more expense and I don't see what I'm gaining for that money except a bigger back seat to transport all the friends and bitches I don't have.
>I don't want to lease a car dude, I want to buy and own one.
You can opt to buy a leased car at the end of the lease term, if you liked the car enough. Meanwhile if it was a piece of shit, you can just lease-to-buy another, better car. I'd honestly lease anything from Korea.
>I'm not a shill
And yet you sound like one. So mysterious. Such mystery. And no, I'm not interested in one of your sales brochures.
>new remote job
nagger if you don't buy a 3k Civic and dump the rest into Vanguard
>dump the rest into vanguard
oh boooy I can't wait to enjoy my money 30 years from now when I'm an old boomer and drive a shit box in the prime of my life. God forbid I enjoy my money while I'm young.
>enjoy your money
>Hyundai
M340i xDrive then, or fuck off
Just get a BMW 340i and dont fall for the meme. Those cars are so damn ugly.
I don't see what makes the BMW better beyond the badge. The interior is far more basic even on the top end BMW, and the starting price is higher than the top end fully loaded price for the G70. Also, aesthetically speaking, I have no clue how you can say the G70 is ugly. I think it looks better than the BMW. The designer of the car is the same guy who did the designs for Bentley's line up.
The Genesis G70 comes with either a twin turbo v4 or a twin turbo v6 as far as I know, in both rear and all wheel driven cofigurations.
then yeah, i would endorse the g70 v6, more luxurious kia stinger with a cool unusual front
then buy it you retard. you need LULZ to validate your shitty hyundai? lol. lmao even.
>luxury sports car
>Hyundai
Nigga please.
>50k on a 4banger
not if driving experience and performance are your 1st concern. and if they aren't you should go ask reddit
Lol I wasn’t going to respond to OP but this retard baited me.
Having test driven both this and the previous gen, and having owned a Stinger, I’d say that the 3.3TT is a very strong choice. But it really depends on your criteria. Like
said the 340i and other European performance sedans are also great contenders so I’m wondering what’s pushing you towards the g70.
the god of redditors is here
Imagine being so afraid of reddit that you avoid any meaningful discussion. This board is a vapid trash heap.
Have you tried walking into a German luxury dealership and seeing what $50k gets you? it's all transverse i4 bullshit crossovers or rebadged Jettas. At least this is RWD and longitudinal so you can actually have fun in it. Would I trust one past a lease period? Probably not but I wouldn't trust anything these days anyways.
that's why you buy lightly used instead of instantly taking a $20k loss
It doesn't work like that with luxury cars. What you save on depreciation you lose at the first maintenance appointment.
... that's why you buy lightly used and still under the maintenance plan and warranty
Have you even driven anything nice?
>It doesn't work that way with luxury cars
Right, it'll be $30k with a luxury car these days
what do you do for work?
my brother had a Genesis V8 sedan and the thing completely fell to shit within a few years then the engine blew up at 108K miles
as long as you sell it before it gets to 60K miles it might be OK
Same happened to my Veloster. Little electronic shit like wheel speed sensors and the backup camera started going out after 60k miles. Dumped it at 80k miles.
Was looking at g70 2 years ago. The 6 cylinder one. Got a giulia instead. No regrets.
Honestly as much as spaghetti wiring scares me this was probably a good call. I made the German mistake falling for the "if you maintain it" meme and it died at less than half the miles most of my shitboxes go. Krautshit: just say "nein"
Post tits or gtfo. Seriously Hyundai is known shit. Why did you bother to post?
My dad just got the crossover EV one, I forget which it is.
It's pretty nice, interiors are nice an luxurious. Overall I don't have much to complain about, but for some reason the sight lines just feel off, I can't tell what it is. But I just feel like I can't see out of it well despite it being designed similar to most SUVs.
g80 is better, get it on lease so you don't have to deal with the headache of fixing it or watching it break down.
My dad has one on lease and the dealer just takes it whenever it needs to be fixed/repaired which comes from their own pocket, he ends up with a valet car while it's being fixed which is very convenient.
I'm not sure about the g70 but it's probably not as nice.
The top end G80 is like 20k more. Also, I'll just be paying monthly without actually owning the car. What's the point? When I go to buy I'll have like 20-30k in cash ready to go.
I knew you were financing this shit. You work from home, and don't even have enough money for any of these cars new, yet you're dead-set on financing this Hyundai, because it kinda sorta looks like a Bentley? You smell black. Get a Camry.
I'll get a loan no more than 20k. What's the problem? I'll probably just invest the cash and not use it as a down payment (why would I? free money for the dealership) and get more than the interest payments, then pay monthly.
>free money
So is a Camry with a $0 monthly. Get a Chrysler 300 if you want the original fool-idiots-I-dont-even-want-to-associate-with-into-thinking-its-a-bentley-for-a-split-second
I am not trying to fool anyone into thinking its a Bentley. I am just pointing out that the car was designed by the same guy who made Bentley's design, and its a very nice looking car. I dunno why you hate Genesis so much. Sure I could get a shitbox camry, but that would defeat the whole point of buying a nice car. I have been driving shitboxes my whole life. And no, a Camry isn't $0 monthly, if I buy it I either finance and pay monthly or pay cash, same as any other car.
>
>finance car, pay under 4% interest
>take my cash that I would have used to buy the car or put a """down payment"""
>invest it into market and make 8-10% per year
>have more money after 6 year loan is up than I started with and paid in interest
What is the problem here, exactly?
Please just stop I am unable to control my laughter for too much longer. No one would have said anything about your finances if you were getting an M340i. It would be understandable to reach into the couch cushions for that car, with that performance, heritage etc. I would be envious of you in that car, because it's an actually good car. You're talking about a Hyundai though. It's slower and amazingly less reliable than the average BMW ironically enough. No one will be envious of you, except the lowest class of people, and you're going into debt for it.
>t. 3x Hyundai owner
there's no way in hell a shitty eurofag BMW is more reliable than a genesis
have you owned a hyudai with more than 60k miles?
By all accounts I've read online, the G70 is more reliable and has fewer issues than BMW's. Also, doesn't BMW charge you a subscription just to unlock more engine power?
While I do understand that BMW is a prestigious brand, the whole point here is that besides the badge, there's nothing BMW offers over the Genesis besides being slightly faster (and costing at least 10k more for the base model).
I dunno why you hate Hyundai so much if you owned it. Do you think they can never improve their quality and make a nice car or something because they started off making shitboxes? Every car company started out making shit boxes.
Anon you’re probably coping but a BMW isn’t slightly faster than a Genesis but much faster. Also even though they’re pig fat physically, the chassis and suspension are engineered to make them feel way lighter than they actually are. asiatics and japs can’t make this work on their luxury cars. Genesis are priced lower for a reason, they’re not as good as a BMW in terms of technology and driving capability .That’s not to say they’re terrible cars, just not on the same level as BMWs or other German makes in general.
I am not coping though. I don't have enough money to buy the BMW and I don't feel like spending extra on performance I don't need. I'm not a race car driver, for me a twin turbo v6 with almost 400 horse power in a small car is way more power than I've ever had in my life, and way more than I'll ever need driving around my area. I can't imagine any scenario where I would care about the "extra performance" of a BMW, especially if it comes at the cost of a less reliable or more expensive to maintain car overall with a worse interior and scam subscription services for basic features like heated seats. Granted, they removed that heated seats subscription, but who knows what else they will try to scam me for.
Also, I looked up the 0-60 times for the two cars in question. The 3.3T genesis has a 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds.
The BMW 340i xDrive has a 0-60 time which is about the same after googling it. Both cars also have very similar horsepower and torque. Maybe there is some magic kraut engineering that makes the BMW way faster but I don't see any evidence for that anywhere and it doesn't seem worth an extra 10k for a BASE model (which means its not going to have half the features the top-end G70 will have).
You say that, but the expected life of the engine from what I read online is 200k-300k miles. However that says nothing about all the other components of the car that could go bad. One review I read, the reviewers said the climate control wasn't working, turned out one of the baffles malfunctioned. And this was a new car. Somehow that didn't raise any concerns in the review. Anyway, I will take your word for it that its a reliable car, but the overall cost of ownership and maintenance is still going to be higher. A fully loaded BMW 340i xDrive is going to be at least 76k. I can stretch my budget to 56k or w/e the absolute top end fully loaded G70 is, but not 70k+.
>caring about 0-60 times
Please go waste your money on a asiatic mobile, you deserve it
I wasn't the one who claimed that the bmw is better because its significantly faster. I was simply posting those 0-60 times to show that it's not "significantly faster" its actually only a fraction of a second faster at accelerating. As far as top speed? IDK, these cars all have speed limiters anyway, I have never taken a car past 110mph in my life, what would I care if the top speed is 170, 190, or 205? I'll never realistically travel at those speeds anywhere.
Yes, I do want the car I'm paying 50+ thousand on to have FEATURES. I want the LUXURY SPORTS CAR I am paying that much money on to actually feel like a LUXURY SPORTS CAR. What is your point dude? I want my car to have heated and vented seats, nice trimming and a good looking interior, nice buttons and touch surfaces, 360 cameras, lane assist, etc. etc. Why the fuck not? Especially if the cheaper G70 has more of those features than the higher priced european car.
I might get a used one, just don't want to get scammed by a used car dealer lol. I need to see the 2024 model before I decide and it depends how much I save up and what I'm comfortable paying.
Well, I'm going for a V6, but I will definitely keep this in mind. I am not opposed to the BMW, its just a tier above my price range. I don't think the G70 and the BMW 340 series are direct competitors because there is a 15-20k price difference. The G70 is basically trying to punch above its price range, but within its price range I dont think there are any better alternatives. I'm ok with the car being a little worse or less "refined" in terms of performance than the BMW since, again, the BMW costs significantly more. Also as some others here mentioned, the lightly used G70's fully loaded are under 35k.
Maybe if I compare a new 2024 G70 fully loaded to a lightly used BMW 340?
>Yes, I do want the car I'm paying 50+ thousand on to have FEATURES. I want the LUXURY SPORTS CAR I am paying that much money on to actually feel like a LUXURY SPORTS CAR. What is your point dude? IM GLAD IM A BIKE FAG AND HAVE NONE OF THIS SHIT HAHAHA
OP I recommend you test drive the g70 and equivalent luxury options instead of listening to these poorfags. You could tell none of them have actually driven these cars because no one has mentioned the difference in torque delivery. I think you will immediately notice the difference in smoothness from BMW’s ZF 8-speed over the g70. Especially if you’re comparing to the 4pot, their single turbo setup leaves a lot to be desired as far as ride quality.
An inline-6 from BMW will outlive the Korean peninsula itself
I guess not everyone is born with superior aesthetic taste. Massive grille split chink-eye is ugly as fuck.
it doesn't even look like a bently dumbass
You le debt bad fags are such insufferable retards
Honestly so are you le debt good israelitehomosexuals too
Anyway /thread
G70 is outdated and not worth price, negotiate a lease where you can get the dealership to fix/take care of the car and provide valet, done. G80 is simply the only car worth bothering with.
Nobody likes spending 2-4 hours a day dealing with taxi service so valet is very handy to get to work still while your car is being maintained/fixed by the dealer.
And I’m not sure where the whole “le sports car” bullshit came from, the g80 is a executive sedan with a 3.3L V6 Turbo, it’s not a fucking mclaren F1 and you homosexuals always want to rev the shit out of your car then whine when it breaks or you get ticketed for speeding. The transmission itself in the g80 is a 8 speed that maintains below or at 10k revs from standstill to highway speeds to reduce wear on the engine, it’s not geared for 0-60 or racing.
But retard hit and run idiots in parking lots are a scourge too and I wish they’d pay up instead of running away.
ok boomer
I park far away just in case. Anyway it happens at the physicians lot at my hospital also so it. Nigga crushed a door and left
This car looks retarded and will look more retarded over the years. Don’t do it anon. I’d get a preowned luxury car from Germany that still has at least 2+ years of warranty
>55k for a 2tonne awd 300hp kia hyundai i4t
>when the gulia and stinger exist with a 450hp v6tt
what in the actual fuck is wrong with u
Giulia is way less reliable and has less features though.
I don't know about the Stinger, not sure why Hyundai is a problem but Kia isn't.
Do you have any tangible reason to hate on the G70 besides the badge?
Also, the AWD 3.3T 2023 G70 has 365 Hp and
376 Lb-Ft. of Torque.
The Giulia meanwhile is a 4 cylinder turbo car with 280HP. Not sure how that's "more performance."
>features
ok so your a homosexual who wants an appliance
The Giulia has a 500+ HP V6. It's also 80k so it's too much for you probably. Also who the fuck cares about features. I only care about Android Auto and buttons. Lane assist is shit - just drive properly. Adaptive cruise just wears your brakes faster. HUDs are a gimmick. A lot of ventilated seats are useless. BMW ones barely work not sure about the Koreans. 360 Cam is nice though. I've scraped my bumper couple of times
Consider a 2023 Ecoboost 6-speed.
OP, please do not buy a G70. Not only has Hyundai discontinued this car but it’s a Hyundai. The wiring harness will be eaten by rats or the engine will explode at 100k miles. Their marketing is bullshit cover for their bullshit engineering.
Remember this phrase, “It’ll pass, Hyundai cars just don’t last.”
lmao what? The 2024 G70 is right around the corner when was it discontinued? The wiring harness will be eaten by rats? What rats dude. I have never heard of anyone's engine exploding at 100k miles.
OP if you cant be bothered to complete a google search for G70 discontinuation or so-y wiring harnesses, you deserve a Hyundai.
I bought picrel as a 2nd car to replace my 86 due to wife+kids. I paid 33k for it (CPO - 24k miles) including 5 years extended warranty. I'd advise you to buy a lightly used model, the car barely changed since 2019 and it (unfairly) depreciates quite quickly. In fact, I went for a pre-facelift model on purpose (I hate the new design and half digital dash).
I live in Canada and needed a car with AWD+auto for the wife, but RWD-based and fun to drive. As far as I can say, this thing delivers (much better than the 86) and I'd get the sport model if I were you (3.3t, LSD + adaptive suspension, brembos). It is kinda heavy though, and it doesn't get great gas mileage.
Discard the opinion of bus riders calling it a Hyundai and go test drive it, imo this thing is solid and amongst the best value you can get for a fun daily driver with 4 doors (get a Stinger to carry kids though). More performance than Lexus/Subaru AWD and 99% chances it will be more reliable than German halal mobiles.
Anon you should save your money and buy a used 2010-2016 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8. You get a great deal on used cheap Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 V6 that make 305hp on older models to 355hp on never models. You can get up to 32mpg on highway going 65mph. I am selling one right now Craigslist because i need to get small 4X4 truck for camping. I had my 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 for over 13 years only have 70,000miles on it never had a problem the car and love driving it on highway. My Car is a low number one that came from South Korea to USA in 2009 because Hyundai need more car to sell in USA.
>save your money and buy a used 2010-2016 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8
lmao terrible advise. Every single one of these have been riced to fuck, tuned to fuck and beat to fuck.
Fuck off ESL.
