I mean usually keynote graphs make the company look good, not like their current gpu is slower than last gen.

Its an interesting strategy, we'll see how well it really works out for them next month. Surely nvidia is sandbagging right?

To be fair, frame interpolation is the only real way for a graphics card to improve the performance of a CPU-bound game. Darktide is more concerning. Notice that all the other games have RT, which is where the gains were made due to the new RT scheduler.

      Anonymous

What's the advantage of frame interpolation if it increases latency? Just "bigger number better" in benchmarks?

        Anonymous

It looks like what's happening here is that the card will generate LESS real frames when doing interpolation than it does without it.

So say it gets 75fps normally. It'll drop down to 50fps, interpolate to 100fps, to get a "2x gain" over its predecessor which is really a 33% gain over what it'd get without using the interpolation.

This shit is such a meme.

So basically it only makes sense for 30->60 fps for increased smoothness, in single player?

          Anonymous

And even then it's better to just turn settings down because the artifacts look worse than lower settings does.

It's common for shit like SVP, honestly. You need a great CPU to suppress artifacts, probably 6 to 8 threads on that alone.

They don't appear in that frame ONLY, frame interpolation artifacts like that happen on every frame where a movement occurs.

The time to make something doesn't depend on the prompt, sadly throwing more steps at it doesn't magically make it better.
Before buying a gpu for this shit you should play around with it on websites, it gets boring quickly.

150 sampling steps take 15.78s, you can speed things up a bit by batch processing 3 512x512 images or increase image size to 768x768

Why did Nvidia pick Darktide (a game that isn't even out yet) and not Total War: Warhammer 3?

They could have showcased the 4090 demolishing that poorly optimized shit game because 3080, 3080ti and even 3090 are getting mogged on 1440p and 4k unlike normal AAA games.

And even then it's better to just turn settings down because the artifacts look worse than lower settings does.

So YouTubers though have been pointing out that it's could affect latency. Cause Nvidia is literally making up non-existant frames to make things seem smoother but really the responsiveness will be an issue cause you see them basically doubling frames or even more with their dlss but alot of those frames are essentially cheat frames that don't actually exist so it might not feel as good as if you just turned it off and stuck to lower frames.
I pretty much guarantee all the twitch shooters will be turning dlss off.

Everyone should be turning DLSS off. It's a moronic gimmick that makes things look worse.

        Anonymous

this will be complete ass for both fast action and extremely low framerates. what I could see working (if they can deal with the artifacts) would be to smooth out 60fps into 120fps in some relatively chill game where you won't notice the input lag.

          >Smooth out 60fps into 120fps in some relatively chill game where you won't notice the input lag.
Yeah but most of those chill games are the ones game Devs like to crank up the graphics fidelity. So enabling dlss just means compromising the presentation.
Chill games I'm perfectly fine with 60fps anyways
