Probably the guys who were threatening someone's lives AND property by not leaving a fortification

Why should they leave the fortification? They weren't in any jurisdictions of the states land. They were legally allowed to be there. You want to know what isn't legal? Shooting at Federal property.

it was a federal fort. it's not like the union army came in and took it after secession. the same troops that were there before secession were there after.

      Anonymous

The Union troops weren't "occupying" the fort. It was their fort. The South Carolina state government had willingly ceded Fort Sumter to the federal government in 1836 so that they would not have to bear the cost of maintaining and garrisoning the fort.

What were the Yankees doing on foreign soil? They left all the other forts in SC. Both sides are to blame at the very least.

          >foreign soil
South Carolina sold the island Fort Sumter was built on to the Federal government in perpetuity. The fort, and the very soil it stood upon, was Federal property.

            Anonymous

so you're saying an illegal invasion force crossed into south Carolina's territory to occupy a fort

            Anonymous

The fort was already occupied by federal troops.

No it wasn't. The feds deliberately moved their forces into the fort after abandoning their previous one.

            Anonymous

Apologies, Anderson moved his garrison from one fort under his command to another a mile across the water. This could hardly be considered an act of aggression, especially in the face of the Confederates raiding every armory they could get their hands on.

            Anonymous

            >illegal invasion force
a legal government garrison. there is literally no interpretation of any law you might give that could possibly reckon the pre-war occupation of the fort to be illegal or an invasion in any way.

So in your mind how is an illegal invasion force crossing your sovereign territory of a now seceded state not cause for alarm

Again. What do you expect them to do other than walk? How were they supposed to leave other than walking? Walking through territory to get back to federal land isn't invading.

Please explain hownthe troops still in Confederate territory is supposed to leave said territory other than walking? They weren't invading they were already there before secession since SC was still in the union. So please. How do the troops leave SC other than going to Fort Sumter? The closest federal territory for them.

I acceptnyoyr concession since you have no argument.
Reminder just because you have federal land in your state doesn't mean the state owns that federal land.
Take Nevada for example. If Nevada were to hypothetically secede they would legally only be the gray areas. Everything else? Jurisdiction of the federal government of the United States of America and there is nothing Nevada could do about it.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edmund_Ruffin

    >Edmond Ruffin, whose name is familiar with every one as a distinguished agriculturalist, and latterly as a politician, committed suicide on Saturday last in Amelia county, near Mattoox station. The sad act had been duly considered by him, as his diary is said to show. He seated himself, and placing the muzzle of the musket in his mouth, sprung the trigger and landed his spirit into the eternal world, with a desperate and unnatural coolness.

Who is LBJgay? He is a black marxist spammer that posts 14 hours a day on his iPhone
He originally came here to spam about black conspiracies like lead causing high black crime rates because he thinks everything is racism
His alter egos are GDPschizo and Tulsatroony, identities he assumes when his spam reporting for racism doesn't ban quick enough so he "gets back" at the mods
His stated goals are to derail threads and "troll the racists" which he does almost every day all day to get his fix
He gets all of his talking points from leftist blogs which is why he's unable to discuss anything and resorts to ad hom
Here the links to three of his blogs:
    http://holocaustcontroversies.blogspot.com/
    https://deadconfederates.com/
    https://jacobin.com/

    These are his behaviors:

    >He sits on /gif/ all day to jerk off to black men to get validation for being black
    >He will spam the "N" word to try and bait you into saying it so he can report you and get you banned (sometimes permabanned)
    >He relentlessly samegays and self-fellates
    >He will post cellphone screenshots to try and prove to you that he's a different person
    >All his arguments and posts relate to his support of the welfare state and the destruction of white power structures
    >Almost all of his threads will have an iPhone filename
    >He will try and get you to defend his strawmen, usually established in the OP
    >He will reply to your old responses with different arguments to try and bait you into responding again to bump threads
    >He will ironically support policies he hates in order to spread disinformation about them
    >His goal is attention, to spread his version of history and to get you banned for racism (possible bunkerchan operative?)

    His main posting topics include:

    >US Civil War
    >US Civil Rights
    >US welfare state establishment and socialist programs
    >Waco Siege threads where he celebrates the death of white children
    >Anti Nixon, JFK and Reagan threads
    >Black Racebait
