For those MTFs of whom HRT has stopped working:
How long was your HRT working for, and when did you notice it stopped? Was there a change in diet, stress levels, activities, temperature exposure?
What kind of foods do you eat? Sugar(fruit counts)? Chocolate? Caffeine? Carbohydrates? How big are your meals on a typical day? How often do you eat? What is your daily caloric intake? What is your exercise level like in a week?
What is your e dose like? What anti androgens do you take?
I’m going to get to the bottom of this shit.
usually it's cause you've had the same regiment for a long time. try switching back to pills for a bit or vice versa
Why would this be? What happens if your body gets used to the new method of delivery? Do you then have to find a third one, and etcetera? Is it possible for someone’s body to eventually reject all forms of HRT?
too many questions. no one knows why stalling happens, just that it does and changing things up helps progression happen again. just try what i say and stop being so neurotic, fuck.
No, HRT does not just "stop working" like that
Proof? I’ve seen a ton of attractive, very feminine people who have remasculinized while on HRT and can’t seem to find the cause despite their levels being normal. I browse a lot of trans threads and subreddits. You’re lying to yourself if you think it’s impossible.
>and can’t seem to find the cause despite their levels being normal
Every level was checked? Prolactin, DHT, E, T? And they weren't taking any meds with multiple steroidal effects? And what exactly do you mean by remasculinization?
I’m not trying to be alarmist, I’m trying to get to the bottom of a problem that is fairly common. Some people can’t get DHT tested for and if I’m not incorrect, there may be one or two other adrenal hormones that are androgenic or can be aromatized or otherwise changed into being androgenic
I’ve seen these girls get way more suicidal and wormy due to this and simply not being believed/having nowhere to go when the evidence is happening to them directly.?
> there may be one or two other adrenal hormones that are androgenic or can be aromatized or otherwise changed into being androgenic
Anon, what are you talking about. A blood test for T levels would catch this stuff since none of those hormones are nearly as androgenic as T/DHT. And aromatase doesn't even create androgenic hormones, it creates estrogenic ones
You never even told me what you meant by masculinization either
Schizo (verification not required)
Ah I knew I would do that. I’m still learning all I can about the endrocrine system and obviously have huge gaps in my understanding.
Masculinization meaning these symptoms
as well as thicker body hair than when I started, more acne, and different sex drive + irritability levels. The difference in feelings is so drastic that I am almost certain there is a huge lifestyle component to truly feeling the full effects of estrogen. There are dell few words to describe how it felt when it was working just right, it felt like magic. I never knew about trans girls getting wet before, I had to have it happen to me and then find out online that others had experienced it too and that it’s a good marker that your hrt is working as it should.
Not only that, but my physical ability was greatly diminished compared to how it is now, I feel pretty strong and able most days whereas when I started I was so fucking weak
i feel this might be happening to me i want to die
I figured. I hope OP can figure out their insane HRT regimen and get better. I think the last thing we need is people spreading harmful misinformation like this to already anxious as fuck wormed girls on this board.
Stopped working on my 3rd month when i changed to injections instead of gel. I went back to gel and still nothing changed, it only changed when i increased my gel dosage.
Are you asking because yours seemingly has? Or just trying to collect data/help others?
Yes, it has stopped working for me.I still get minor breast growth but the majority of mental and physical changes have gone away. I used to have thinning body hair, super girlsmell, softer skin, and my thoughts/sex drive was much more male-focused and I could barely get erections. Hell, I used to even get wet as fuck when aroused, which smelled like a healthy vag. All of those have more or less reversed
Wait, HRT can stop working? This is news to me, is this something I should be concerned about?
T. 6 years troon
around 4 months
starting from oral estradiol 20 mg daily + finasteride. no change in anything. introduction of injections didn't help. decreasing dose from 7 mg to 5 mg/5 days EV only worsened symptoms.
DHEA-S elevated over male range, high androstenedione, testosterone and dihydrotestosterone barely in female range which is contaminated with PCOS anyway, high DHT:T ratio, DHT as high as in cis men on finasteride. miraculously, hydroxyprogesterone at the bottom of the norm what suggests it's not from adrenal axis but from a tumor.
Holy shit, why were you on 20mg daily to begin with? Also, did you ever end up getting results later on?
Because I needed affordable HRT and injections were scary while it was also cheap to do high-dose monotherapy on raw powder.
I'm yet to start bicalutamide and dutasteride. I don't think it has anything to do with estrogen stopping its work: ERα-mediated suppression of GnRH (LH) is still total and would increase rapidly if some magical desensitization of estrogen receptor happened.
how do you afford to get all of those things tested omg
It never worked for me. The only reason why I know It did anything and I'm not taking placebo was blood tests, gyno turning into tits and stopping of mpb progression as long as I paired e injections with cypro/bica/duta (on mono it still progressed)
I had this specifically because my adrenals started making androgens after I crushed my T to zero on cypro
it didn't show up on bloodwork because it was all dht, and tons of places don't seem to test for it, don't know why
anyway for me spiro fixed it, so would bica or dutasteride
HRT does not just "stop working." What happens is that you hit a plateau. Likely you may want to switch to injecting.
