that's an awful take, NYD are really a mid proto-punk band at best. a couple of cool tunes but their albums are really quite inconsistent.

You're a retarded homosexual. Every song on their first two albums is great.

i'm honestly happy for you that you like them that much, and i think it's great that you even like this type of music at all. but i really think you can't have listened to much of it yet if you think this is the best it gets.

Then what does impress you, queer?

Oh, such you're just a reactionary retard who doesn't like the Dolls because critics like them more than your favorite band? Got it.

        >uses "queer" and "homosexual" as insults

I've listened to over 3500 albums. That is nowhere near the amount of Christgau, who has the same exact opinion. Maybe you're just wrong.

Are you going to cry about it, pole smoker?

Really, homo? Considering you're so dismissive of the Dolls, care to show what you consider the peak of rock?

maybe not, yeah. i like the New York Dolls a lot, i just really think their albums are a bit hit-and-miss and the vocals are not very strong.

so yeah maybe calling them a mid tier proto-punk band "at best" was a bit too harsh, sorry for that. maybe i should have also mentioned that i fucking love proto-punk to the point that being a mid tier proto-punk band to me is still a great compliment.

literally just some rolling stones tier shit played badly like most of the rock of their era (and the stones themselves are mostly dull), except these guys had a gimmick where they dressed in women's clothing
        not impressed

It seems that even if it were crossdressers/glam rock types, or trannies, they write the most malebrained music.

the mumps are like the new york dolls but good

Awesome, anon. To be fair Lance had performative experience, he was on TV '73... He's definitely way more expressive in vocals dept than David, whereas David's flat Jagger-esque, still not taking away from him. The Dolls were outside John Vaccaro's theatre, observing, street kids enamored with the theatrical glitter movement, Dolls just had the balls to run with it taking back the 3minute Rock'n'Roll song.

I mean what a lineup. Jerry Nolan is a fucking awesome drummer, while Johnny was the real star of the show on that debut... Sylvain and Kane, man shit man. I love that Dolls record, the 1st one is tops. But the lore that follows is just as big, The Heartbreakers, Thunders solos, etc.

But Yeah anon, correctly mentioned The Mumps definitely have not got the nod they deserve.
