>company keeps threatening to fire me during layoffs >Fine with me, I'll just pick up welding and japanese till I find a new job
This has been going for 3 years now. I've legit told them to fire me yet here I am without knowing Japanese or welding
>requiring a class to learn welding >in the year 2022
Ok sure I could've learned things a lot faster if someone had taught me but these days when you can just watch a youtube video and learn everything you need to know why bother? >tfw no more ChuckE2009 to learn secret stick welding techniques from
Hahahahahah holy shit get a load of this homosexual
How many of my welds have done a perfectly fine job of holding the thing that they weren't meant to hold together together? Plenty!
Isn't that the purpose of welds?
What's up with some people and the inability to give a simple answer to a simple question. Anyway I'm going to concider your answer as "none"
Look dude, a monkey could make two pieces of metal stick together. In a week that monkey has learned to make those weld looks nice. I can do it, you can do it, a monkey could do it. I even get paid little bit of money for it. Just little aluminium stuff like brackets and repairs usually.
But the point I was making is, untill you're welds have been x-rayed, tested and aproved by a qualified nigga, you don't know how good your welds are. That's the reason for going to class. At least that's the reason where I live. You aren't going to be doing any professional welding without qualifications. Hell, you need to ne qualified for the technique and materials used.

>you don't know how good your welds are
Good enough to serve the intended purpose.
Again what more could you ask for? Why would you need anything more than that?

At least in the 1st world "good enough" isn't enough. There's all kinds of shit happening that the eye can't see in your welds. When peoples safety and lives depends on it, there needs to be some standarts

Must be a US thing. Here we have vocational school where you learn a trade. You're taught theory, in practice and big part of it is on the job learning where you basically do the job you're in the school for + you get all the certs you need to get started. I for example have A/C and EV vehicle certs because I went to mech school. It cost me nothing.

Post welds and we'll take bets on the body count when your hack job fails.
They won't teach you the things you're hoping they're going to teach you. Probably going to have to do the intermidiate and advanced courses after your beginner one before you start heading in the right direction to weld space fame chassis.

I get the japanese part but welding is easy, you just need to practice
I mean like get professional certifications and shit like that.
Otherwise a grinder and paint make me the welder I ain't.
Try learning hiragana and katakana to start in Japanese. It's not difficult.

So you're saying none?
I'm saying I've built things with welding and those things have served their intended purpose - what more could you ask for?

God damn, I just wanted to learn welding so I could put "certified welder" in my CV
I hope you make it man.
Thanks, I'm starting with my dad to get a grasp of the basics and when I have time I'll apply for a course
