femcel woes

My boss made me talk about whether I had a boyfriend (I don't) in front of a group at a meeting. She also said I looked and acted just like her daughter's (male) friend, including my jaw and height. I am a biological woman. This was my first day. Is this harassment? Will it continue to get worse?

I don't know. It depends on what you look like. It was certainly strange to have you do that at a group meeting, that's for sure

    How'd she do that?

She brought it up and asked each of us. Some opened up freely about it prior but then she asked us each. I said it was a sore spot and they kept looking at me so I was like I wish. They said I guess that's a no.

She was a single mom of three and said she doesn't have a boyfriend to "avoid distractions." She said she asked us to know about our potential distractions.

Yeah I'd probably start looking for a new job. She sounds like a nightmare. Best of luck, femcel.

I finally just got into the industry I wanted and have had to go through a ton of bureaucracy and pay for licensing, courses etc. After training I won't have to be in the office much as I am an independent contractor. I think I will gut it out for now.

Atleast if you know she's trying to hurt you, you can see it coming and emotionally detach from it but that abuse will bother you over time if you have to put up with it regularly.

You can absurdly easily find a bf. You just use loneliness as a cool aesthetic.

      yeah

I am thin and she pointed that out too. Pretty lean, thinner than most or all women walking around. Bmi ~17.5
ish? I also go to the gym.

sounds like you're a career gal who doesn't even want a bf anyway. why does this bug you. sure it's invasive but it's not like you're a "femcel" or anything. just do the work, keep your head down and leave for a better position when you can. harassment from your employer is very hard to sue for. roast manager is just jealous.

I would rather have the boyfriend. The one I want is busy ignoring/rejecting me though.

        >I also go to the gym.
How do you stay that thin then? What do you do at the gym? That's really underweight. I didn't even go to the gym that much but I still gained weight.

I lift weights. I've been gaining quite a bit. I used to have 15-16 bmi. I look better very thin though, but not too underweight. Just a little, like modelesque. Finding clothes that fit both my waist and height is a real struggle though. (00 @ 5'7")

How about something like this? Also congrats! I used to be a skelly too. I still look like a skelly but my BMI is 22. I think you will be jealous of me because I have the build you want but as a guy, which I suppose is not that great even though my body is rather toned. It's okay though, I just compensate by being overly aggressive. Kidding :p

Def not the build I want tbh. Not bad but I know it's not ideal for me nor is it simple to build/maintain with my genetics. I don't pack on muscle like that. Even when I get quite strong I have a slender build with very hard/dense muscle. I used to get jealous of women who could pack on muscle easier but now I work with what I've got.
            >skelly 22 bmi
Lol. I mean we do live in the fattest era of human history. Maybe with clothes you look 20 bmi due to muscle being denser.
I know at higher weights my face bloats and I just look worse, even if a lot is muscle. It's improved with age but not enough to really get away with it.

I get it a lot from darker skinned women as someone with fair skin. Might be because of internalized racism, they lash out. Especially in the Latino community, fair skin has been seen as a beauty standard. I have tried to figure out why so many Latinas are rude to me and this is what I came up with. I am understanding, just a pattern I have noticed. Not all are rude of course.

Frick her. I get picked on from time to time at work because I am fat and shy and it SUCKS. Don't put up with that bullshit though or it will get worse as other anons have said already. They don't need to know about your personal life, especially not announcing it when others are around. That's not right.

Nah, I posted a pic on a body thread recently and I was called "very skinny". My ribs are still very visible.

Ribs being visible means you're not fat. It doesn't mean skelly. Skelly is like The Machinist Christian Bale. Skelly is your hip bones are poking out far, like Eugenia Cooney. Doesn't occur at mid normal bmi.

Your relationship with your boss is critical to both your happiness and success in this job. Either get transferred to another department or start looking for another job. Don't take this the wrong way because I've made this mistake before, but it's possible you didn't vet your boss well enough in the interview process. A learning experience for sure.
