I’m fasting until Thanksgiving. Are there any supernatural benefits to this? Apparently the ancients would fast for days before praying. Is it true that not eating will increase DMT production?

Yes there are benefits, if you fast until your body starts burning fat.
    Ketones are superior meditative fuel.

Well I'm starting today and I'm breaking the fast Thursday afternoon. I'm about 170 pounds, 5'8", mostly a lean build. The fat that I do carry is around my gut and hips, but there's not a lot.

I've been known to get low blood sugar and burn ketones easily, I can always taste/smell it in my mouth. I didn't realize this is good for meditation, can you elaborate?

it's a ketard/intermittent fasting myth it's just an easy way to enter a state of ordeal and break down the material barrier between a practitioner and divinity and also to allow the body to purge any defilements, a lot of people also restricted sleep during fasting periods to increase the effect even more

Well the sleep I unfortunately can't restrict for this week. Also I work a very physical job and so I'm guessing I'll be burning through fat faster than usual.

          >allow the body to purge any defilements

          Like demons?

Fasting regenerates and cleanses the body, while also allowing one's spirit to loosen the bondage of the material form.

It's a three and a half day fast. Last thing I ate was ice cream last night, so I really haven't had anything substantial since the middle of Sunday. I won't be eating again until around 3-4pm EST on Thursday.

considering the last thing you ate was icecream you're probably a fatass so 3 days wont do much
        have fun regardless

Youre already failing by talking about it, OP. People who do three day fasts dont need to talk about it all over the internet they just do it and keep it to themselves.

Jesus told us to wash our face and put on a happy/strong countenance while we fast so as to not appear to others to be fasting.

Yes. Jesus told us to fast and pray.

My wife wanted to vaccinate my children and i fasted in protest and for spiritual strength and my wife eventually gave in and we have beautiful unvaccinated children because of it.

Yes. You will get to know yourself and he who knows himself will know his Lord.

    May this find you well

yes, fasting is an ancient method to attain insight.

shamanism, druids and medicine men have existed in all ancient cultures and used various methods to make it easier to attain spiritual insights. common examples include: not sleeping, not having sex, not eating and of course, taking naturally occurring psychoactive substances.
these are all methods for altering your way of thinking and allow you to see problems from different angles which might help you come up with a solution.

a practical example would be a shaman that is trying to understand how to catch deer for their tribe to eat. the shaman wears furs from the deer, and maybe it's skull or antlers as well. for days, he does not eat or sleep, instead he practices being the deer. after days of doing this, his brain will not function like it normally does. the exhaustion and lack of sustenance changes how he reasons and thinks to be more primitive, and because of this he can better understand how the deer thinks and acts. through doing this arduous process, he learns something he didn't think of before and will have knowledge about how to track or hunt the deer better, which he can tell his tribe and they will have a greater chance of survival.

fasting won't do any mystical mumbo jumbo, but it will allow your brain to approach problems from a different perspective and gain insight from that
