The fake bookshelves etc. took it too far, but the visual cues created by having visually clickable buttons etc. and a design hierarchy made it a far more comfortable experience to use skeuomorphic interfaces than flat design. Thankfully a lot of companies seem to have come to that realisation as well as of late.
I've used it on a HTC HD2
In win mobile 6.1 only in with proggies that support it. Some other programs also can have it but it works like a screen magnifier and wont actually scale the content.
I think 6.5 has better support for it but the OS is bloated crap
By bringing us an easier input method which is more like human interaction? I press buttons on a keyboard, why can't I press buttons on my screen?
The Blackberry, as much as the keyboard helped, was a pain in the ass to use. However, it too was an evolution in the computing method. When AI fad has faded, then we'll start to see proper voice interfaces based on frequency and not words.
you do realise even the in winmo days, physical keyboards weren't the standard, right? sure there were more options that had one than now, but not all of them had one
beautiful homescreen could configure the size of all those icons but basically no apps on there since it had its own retarded store aka the main reason it died. people were literally uploading emulators for other apps on the windows app store or whatever it was called back then to try and actually use basic shit on there. everything else about it was great though.
As an employed person I truly don't care. Both sets of icons convey to me which app I'm about to open. Contrarians will shout "old thing good" as always.
I like the detailed skeuomorphism on the left but hate the colours. How the fuck do you manage to combine a garish glossy sheen effect with an extremely desaturated, low-contrast overall look? A couple of those icons look OK but the screen as a whole is nasty.
Right is cleaner but the simplification went too far and that's only gotten worse since 2013. Your average icon nowadays is basically one simple geometric shape in a single colour.
(cringey) American culture when poors make-believe they're rich.
I didn't do my homework on the iPhone, but the s23 ultra is the best phone ever made minus an SD card slot, audio jack, sim card tray, removable battery and other modular hardware
[Open]
e-boing @ poor people buying iphones to seem Rich, when only poor people buy iphones and it's a sign that you're poor. e-boing @crapple for not being able to buck the obsolescence train they've been riding.
The s9 ultra tablet is $800 less than crapple's top tier iPad & the iPad doesn't do1 thing better than the ultra. i'm losing my shit over here. & ipad has a shitty screen ratio. they're saying how the pens are basically the same but that cannot be true; the s pen has a finer tip which... why in the heck wouldn't you want that? the crapple also uses an LCD screen. all the advantages for LCD are not in play here, like lower cost, higher brightness, availability, size&resolution - holy shit they don't even have a 16:9 screen ratio or a bigger screen. this doesn't make sense to exist. someone is claiming android can't do vector graphics but according to the adobe illustrator description, it does. and that's a desktop function anyway
The iWatch is *egregiously* obsolete because it has cheap, inferior sapphire that totally defeats the purpose of using sapphire&the battery doesn't even last a day, which makes it significantly less useful than the galaxy watch 5&6 (gw5) &they're charging MORE than the superior gw5 & 6 that have a 2.5-3 day battery life. The iWatch's audience is no one.
Everything apple makes is obsolete&obviously so. Crapple has no reason to exist&the world would be just fine if that TRILLION dollar company disappeared without a trace tomorrow.
iPhone in decline in Japan, the nips don't want it and they don't want to seem poor, like Americans who buy iphones
A Cringey aspect of american culture is poor people make-believing they're not poor if they walk around with expensive things (this is commonly seen with Africans buying shiny things), and apples latest ad campaign is telling me that women will have sex with them if they have an iPhone, and they get women to repeat the "blue bubble" comments to make-believing owning an iPhone = sex.
Whether you're looking for a great phone or looking to hop on the winning bandwagon, apple is losing in america too, and the google pixel is stealing crapple's sales.
And here we see the utter domination required to break through apple's legendary reality distortion field https://9to5google.com/2023/10/13/google-pixel-8-display/
>headline: "iPhone Gives Way to Pixel" >reality: iPhone holds 48% of market; any Google phone (including non-Pixel models) hold 8-10%, just edging out Sharp
I really do hate people who write headlines like this.
Also, the thought of Sharp holding this much of the cell phone market in Japan is somehow weirder than the massive proportion of them that jerk off to schoolgirls getting fucked by tentacles (animated or actual), then turning around and unironically eating squid or octopus for dinner.
>on-device AI
more marketing fluff. literally every phone from the last 5 years... ios or android, can do real time offline voice-translation. all they're doing here is feeding your phone call audio into that.
One area I've found the iphone really shines compared to my android is the gps or atleast the voice directions are way better and more prompt, many times i felt like pelting my android on the side of the ride while riding around the city on my motorbike.
I'd never buy one for that alone but it is nice for an old phone someone gave me when my android broke.
Poor people spend 15 hours researching which phone they buy and then write 800 word essays about it on mongolian basket weaving forums
Normal people just buy an iPhone
iToddler, obviously you are the only person in the world that can preform your peasant job. if I had the same philosophy I would do the same. people dictate the market not the other way. cry harder please.
never owned an iphone myself, but i quite liked the pre-ios7 look, especially those apps with the nice textures like leather and wood, very comfy looking
nowadays it's just an eye-sore
i honestly do not see a difference
the ones on the right look cleaner and less busy = easy to read at a glance, but otherwise the icons all show the exact same symbol so i don't understand the fuss
The first one with the second background. I would only pick a minimalist flat if and only if you show me evidence it saves battery. I know for sure it doesn't because all that GUI is on top of tons of layers and heavily decoupled from the hardware.
The old ones look better, but the new ones, as souless as it is, it is easier to distinguish, different/ more vibrant colors and all.
I honestly don't care, just got the message today that I have to update my work iPhone to iOS17 to comply with company standards and keep access to MS services on it, if you forget for too long, you have to call IT to get the access back, same with pwd changes etc.
I liked the Aero design the most, but I got better stuff to do, than to cry about software design and sovl.
They're both pretty
android 2(éclair) ui
I prefer your mother
Literally SOVL vs Soulless
would both
The fake bookshelves etc. took it too far, but the visual cues created by having visually clickable buttons etc. and a design hierarchy made it a far more comfortable experience to use skeuomorphic interfaces than flat design. Thankfully a lot of companies seem to have come to that realisation as well as of late.
I prefer efficiently and effectively screen use.
Then you should prefer windows mobile 6 to winphone cancer.
Does Windows Mobile 6 even have multi-touch support?
I've used it on a HTC HD2
In win mobile 6.1 only in with proggies that support it. Some other programs also can have it but it works like a screen magnifier and wont actually scale the content.
I think 6.5 has better support for it but the OS is bloated crap
Jesus, imagine what could have been. Steve Jobs really did ruin modern computing.

>easier input method
>still using a XIX century keyboard layout proven to be mediocre AF
LMAO
damn I miss lumia
Whatever this design style is called, (Metro?) I hated it when it came out, and I hated it even more when it infected windows 8.
Skeumorphism forever!
God that's fucking ugly.
45% of the screen is wasted on diversity stock photos.
I wish I could've gotten a windows phone before they died
beautiful homescreen could configure the size of all those icons but basically no apps on there since it had its own retarded store aka the main reason it died. people were literally uploading emulators for other apps on the windows app store or whatever it was called back then to try and actually use basic shit on there. everything else about it was great though.
turning the phone off and reading
Right, the one on the right has a working clock icon, while the left is just an icon with the time being correct two times a day.
they're both shit so who cares
the brightness of iOS 7, with the 3d look of iOS 6. vgh... now THAT would be kino
I still love iOS 6
Couldn't care less
left: well executed for 2010 but not innovative
right: tries to be flat, original and innovative but failed at all of them
Eh between the two I'll take iOS7 but they're both shit
As an employed person I truly don't care. Both sets of icons convey to me which app I'm about to open. Contrarians will shout "old thing good" as always.
Pretty incredible that people now unironically pretend early ios design was good
Its not necessarily bad, but its harder to make it scale well.
You just miss being young
I would be okay with both.
Union electrician
I use my phone to text and make phone calls. As long as the texting app and calling app are readily identifiable I do not give a fuck.
Sovl vs soulless
>t. iPhone user
Skeuomorphic
I like when VSTs have that design
the ios 7 newstand logo is garbage, do they still use it?
I like the detailed skeuomorphism on the left but hate the colours. How the fuck do you manage to combine a garish glossy sheen effect with an extremely desaturated, low-contrast overall look? A couple of those icons look OK but the screen as a whole is nasty.

>samsung running hotter than the iphone
Right. Left looks like what chinks would make when copying a real device. They are both ugly.
iPhones are for the economically disadvantaged

oh great, now I can finally know what the chinks who call my number periodically want
those damn chinks. we all hate them
>on-device AI
woh... where the gtx4090 go? in ur pocket via usb-c cable?
>on-device AI
more marketing fluff. literally every phone from the last 5 years... ios or android, can do real time offline voice-translation. all they're doing here is feeding your phone call audio into that.
well nagger, if that were so easily done then why didn't apple fliip on the switch years ago?
do you even technology??? reeeeee
idk why did i fuck your mom last night?
This is the second time I see this today, please take your meds.
My iPhone was issued to me by my employer
One area I've found the iphone really shines compared to my android is the gps or atleast the voice directions are way better and more prompt, many times i felt like pelting my android on the side of the ride while riding around the city on my motorbike.
I'd never buy one for that alone but it is nice for an old phone someone gave me when my android broke.

Normal people just buy an iPhone
>Employed
>Using Apple
lol no, only neets and jeets use Apple
Employed person here. I have an Android.
Flat for me.
>Flat for me.
found the pedo
No I just like your mom.
>No I just like fat Indian woman
gross
What if I just really like the High Elf Archer from Goblin Slayer?
iToddler, obviously you are the only person in the world that can preform your peasant job. if I had the same philosophy I would do the same. people dictate the market not the other way. cry harder please.
both are trash. go back.
source?
World literally peaked in 2012, everything form 2013 is big gay.
Damn, I wanted to reply to this one. One more reason to get a job
xD
never owned an iphone myself, but i quite liked the pre-ios7 look, especially those apps with the nice textures like leather and wood, very comfy looking
nowadays it's just an eye-sore
Don’t care, as long as the device does what I want without being retarded about it.
Motorola.
as an employed person i use a real box, not a phone but i like the right one better even though i never used iToddler
Employed people don't use iphones
i honestly do not see a difference
the ones on the right look cleaner and less busy = easy to read at a glance, but otherwise the icons all show the exact same symbol so i don't understand the fuss
employed and love iPhone
>Employed people answer only.
so basically no one ITT?
neither
how am i supposed to make my powerpoint presentations on a phone
left, Ive always thought right looked like toddler puke
Skeumorph any day.
On my first job everything was HTC PDAs with Winmo 6.1. When the iphone arrived, those icons felt pretty kickass by comparison.
left one
The first one with the second background. I would only pick a minimalist flat if and only if you show me evidence it saves battery. I know for sure it doesn't because all that GUI is on top of tons of layers and heavily decoupled from the hardware.
Skeuomorphism, elements you could interact were way more obvious and a lot of icons made more sense to normies.
The old ones look better, but the new ones, as souless as it is, it is easier to distinguish, different/ more vibrant colors and all.
I honestly don't care, just got the message today that I have to update my work iPhone to iOS17 to comply with company standards and keep access to MS services on it, if you forget for too long, you have to call IT to get the access back, same with pwd changes etc.

right looks easier to see
literally how?
