Elon

Has he managed to put things in space for a lower cost than the Russians yet?

Russian rockets use proton. They're like 2-3 times more expensive per kg of payload than Falcon 9/Falcon Heavy

Watching Elon's events is like watching one of those prosperity churches. A bunch of recovering addicts looking for the same grifter magic.

          Alt-Vatnik

Proton launch was around $50m for COMMERCIAL customers and it's payload is 23700kg. That's ~$2100. How do you get $4320 I don't know.
Of course for domestic/government launches it's much lower than even that (actually free because the whole Pockocmoc is government owned and paid anyway)

? So when the government does a launch there's no cost, the engineers and manufacturers and logistics workers and everyone involved just works for free, the materials used to build it are given to the Russian government for free? That's awesome, why doesn't every government do that?

The government subsidizes the launches, dummy

I made myself a sandwich a minute ago on my kitchen. Was it free to me?
Anyway, the US almost lacks a space launch capacity. If Musk has it enough with the ADL and decides to move to China what you gonna do? Expropriate his companies the true US bolshevik style?

That would be literally impossible. There would probably be national security laws violated by moving assets related to rocketry and AI to China. Plus China simply doesn't have the human capital to provided skilled employees for SpaceX.

He’s probably bound by clauses in his contract that he must keep the tech in us friendly countries. The majority of his employees certainly wouldn’t move to China.
Also, if you steal the ingredients, the sandwich is free

I'd launch something into space for giggles if it only costs $1500 for a kg payload. How many people do we need to get in on this to justify a launch?

What would you launch into space?
