Gender identity is a meme, a spook. Identity is a very modern conception of the world. Dysphoria and behavioral inclinations are the only things with meaning

dysphoria is just a way to describe internalized homophobia without admitting it is about you hating being gay and re-framing sexual orientation as if it were a mistaken gender rather than an unusual attraction pattern.

There is no meaningful difference between what is described as "gender dysphoria" and hating your male body because it means you are gay for liking men.

If gay men had womens bodies they wouldnt be gay. Hating being gay and wanting to be a woman to not be gay are not different things - but if you outright admitted this was just about sexual orientation people would be much less sympathetic so you lie.

I agree 100%. I was gay and I love men sexually never thought of women as anything other than doofus's.
Where I disagree, is that I was so cute and pretty! I didn't want to share the masculine role. I wanted to strictly have the other guy be the masculine guy, support me, take me out on dates, buy me things, yeah
I just wanted to be the woman and I got away with it!

A lot of conservatives would pat you on the back for choosing to be a woman over being gay

I agree it's more like sex role disorder. When I was a child I couldn't conform to my sexual I was always like a girl in my polite activities I expressed myself like a girl even said I was a girl! I was definitely a true transsexual

        >sex role
        So gender.

Folks, "dysphoria" is the term for the feeling resulting from incongruity. The diagnosis didn't abandon all meaning with a name change focusing on the matter at hand- the distress- rather than naming *being* incongruent with gender norms as "the problem."

          AmericanDreamTrueT

Sex role is actually a more accurate description because sex role is including the basic male and female difference and how that is acted upon by ones behaviour

Stress can vary from person to person with the same amount of incongruent sexual behavior. The new terms, dysphoria makes it more murky rather than clarifying the issue.
The main reason for the changes because to get rid of the word "disorder"

Why are you calling yourself the American dream when you're not even from America?

"Disorder" in the name was redundant. You can read the notes in the DSM itself. The experience of [clinical] dysphoria is by definition a disorder because of the disruption to daily life.

It's still a bunch of shit. Gender dysphoria is not as informative as gender identity disorder, which is not as informative as sex role incongruence. GNC was in my childhood records, I was a gender nonconforming kid because I was not able to tolerate, or learn the boy sex role.

Gender identity disorder describes sex role incongruent behaviour. Dysphoria just describes something vague and meaningless. It's just something sappy to say about why you're not happy with yourself. Real transsexuals are not able to act like boys in the first place. They don't have the ability to hide it because they don't even know what it is

The diagnosis is "dysphoria" and, like depression, describes the primary associated feeling. DSM V, and we're nearing DSM V-TR so this is not new. You're mistaken in what's involved here. I don't understand what's supposed to be an "excuse," as Gender Identity Disorder had similar descriptions of the emotional experience.

Yeah they changed it to Dysphoria so it can sound more vague and make trannies look like groomers. Cause dysphoria is basically what every human on Earth feels every day so it just SOUNDS like groomer bullshit.

      >And make trannies sound more like groomers
Definitely was not the goal. They have notes in the DSM and the American Psychological Association (as well as the American Psychiatric Association) both have articles on this.

No it was. Psychologists are frauds. They are anti-trans and anti-gay. They only became publically pro in order to deflect and move the goal posts.

Different generations. The entire treatment model changed from a corrective one to a medical one. Times have changed (thank God). Of course the new gens want to correct the injustices of the old.

I understand your concern and I would question the same. It's because people here do not write sentences as complete thoughts. It's an act of irrational parsimoniousness for the sake of the irrational.
What people here think of as 'boomer writing' is actually correct English composition.
