For long term changes go little by little reducing your bad habits and starting new ones. Step by step, one thing at a time. Slow and steady is the best.
Yes it works. The problem is you'll be right back into your addictions two days later, so it has to be a lifestyle change towards conserving dopamine.
As an example I notice when I go on a 5 hour drive, my dopamine and willpower gets reset.
You would basically have to throw away all your screen technology, or find a way to limit its use to 1 hour a day.
Dopamine is a finite resource. Every day, depending on your state of health, a finite amount of dopamine is generated. If you do stimulating activities like the internet and video games, then most of your dopamine will be spent on these activities, making the rest of your life seem boring in comparison. The way to be strongly motivated with a boring life, is to cut out these hyperstimulating activities, because you will still have the same amount of dopamine and willpower to spend on the "boring activities" or your mundane life.
dopamine detox is an absolute meme, dopamine isnt a "feel good" chemical its the neurotransmitter responsible for making you want to do things, a 'dopamine detox' wont make any meaningful change to your brain chemistry, but yes just putting the video games and porn down for a day and doing the dishes is good for you but you don't have to talk out of your ass like a pseud. instead start dopamine maxing, take an adderall and smoke a cig you will get shit done like crazy
>what is neuroplasticity and brain connections
the longer you do shit the harder it is to quit because your brain adapts to it, DeltaFosB will literally rape your discipline at the minimum hint something "pleasant". Rewiring your brain back to normal can take months.
This anon speaks the truth. And I can speak from experience that if you can seriously CHANGE your life style & habits, along with AVOIDING sights & sounds that YOU personally would deam as "negative", along with exercising & proper diet, dopamine RECEPTORS can be reset over time to restore inspiration, motivation, & even the will to live.
>instead start dopamine maxing, take an adderall and smoke a cig you will get shit done like crazy
This. The only time I get to do what I have to do (work, study, long sessions of video games) is when I start edging and masturbating.
I start getting excited with porn and then I start edging and masturbating and bam, the dopamine floods my brain and suddenly nothing is impossible and I start doing what I have to do. I take a few tiny breaks to get my dopamine fix and then get back to work with the will to lift mountains.
Some will think it's ridiculous or even pathetic, but never mind, it's the only way I've found that's free, accessible, fast and enjoyable.
Your brain becomes less sensitive to dopamine from natural sources when you use all that artificial hardcore shit to stimulate it. It's the same as building a tolerance to a drug.
I was really into these sort of fasting, dopamine detox, no PMO, and various restrictive diets when I was younger and I felt I just wasted a lot of time on them with nothing to show for it. It's more of a matter of really just focusing on stuff and deciding that's important and some of that will only come with age and having more restrictive free time.
Does this shit work? Will a complete 24h Dopamine Detox help me focus and stop procrastinating?
Sweet OP, I once went like 25 days without any internet, cellphone or computer. I shit you not, all my attention issues went away, I could read a book easily all day without the urge to move about or get distracted with shit, which gave me 100000% certainty that ADHD is just cellphone addiction which adapts the brain to the fast use of the smartphone. When I got my cellphone back it all came back again just like it was before. It was a interesting experience, but I ask you: is it worth it to renounce this most useful instrument that is the smartphone and the internet? I honestly don't see how you can use these responsibly, specially the cellphone.
24 hours will just throw you into withdrawal and make you binge when the detox is over. You need steady and consistent reduction. Try to use your phone 10% less this week, then reduce by another 10% next week, and so on.
This protocol has the potential to activate a dopamine reset, cure ADD/ADHD, free one from addictions, increase mental clarity, reboot the brain and mind, and raise one's level of consciousness. Link 1 is for reference. Link 2 is a quick-start guide.
I guess that makes sense considering shit like Tiktok and Facebook are meant to be addicting. No joke, look it up. Get off all social media. No videos under 10 minutes length. Limit yourself to 1 hour 4 Chan (on a timer). No multiplayer games. You will get better.
its a myth. the best way to stop procrastinating is getting some discipline built up. which is hard.
doubt 24 hours would do anything much

I've literally had one thing to do for a month and I still haven't done it
And I probably won't until it's too late
Cause idgaf

I think you need to do it for 7 days to get it to work. I routinely crash at day 5 because my brain gets really angry.
