does glam blues have soul?

does glam blues have soul?

i know most people don't like stevie ray vaughan -- they say he's a hack, that's he's ripping off black music, etc. but i thought he had a ton of soul.

he has soul but his soloing style is so generic with its BLAWALWALWLALWALWALLWA sound for lack of a better word

Based retard. SRV is great and where he shines is his contemporary pop songs and slow jams. Riviera Paradise proves he is not a one trick pony. So does Boot Hill. His earlier live work is sloppy but that is because he is drunk.

stevie was alright, but it was very dull music in hindsight.

How is he supposed to be ripping off black music when the blues is all about using licks from people you respected. I always heard you were looked down upon if you didn't do this. He also had a close relationship with BB King and did a album with Albert. I think if blacks had a problem with this they wouldn't have done this. But I suspect they didn't and this is just your typical self hating white's opinion.

It’s pretty well known in blues circles that SRV was “sweet” as the black folks say. that was probably how he learned the guitar to be honest with you

I could never get into SRV. He's a good guitarist but the songwriting doesn't do anything for me. I feel the same way about Hendrix, but he's better than SRV.

I don't understand this "Glam Blues" terminology.
    It's a contradiction in terms.
There's nothing "Glam" about the blues.
And SRV was a GOAT guitar player who knew his way around a fretboard and was taken from us too soon and too early in his young life.

People like to put him down because they can't play like him. They trash-talk him in order to cope with their lack os musicianship and feel better about themselves.

To be fair everyone sounded like shit in the 80s/early 90s. If Stevie had come up with the technological limitations of the 60s/early 70s he would have made amazing music. Unfortunately he made Huey Lewis and the News tier digital butt blooze because that was what was in at the time

He isn't "glam blues". He's very much in a tradition of many Texas blues players. SRV is Freddie King's biggest fanboy.

Texan blues is the worst type of blues. Closely followed by ballroom pop blues like B.B. King
