Does anyone else not like "Good" vocals? I prefer when the singer can't really technically sing well.

    >can't really technically sing well
you mean like out of tune and shit? that's always terrible
if you just mean like a "bad voice" or something then that's understandable

I don't mind vocals that much as long as they are not trying too hard to be the center of attention.

I don't like dazzling Whitney Houston singing, that soaring, over-the-top American Idol style

Nothing worse than when a girl with a nice voice decides to sing like a black girl. Don't (you) me.

No, the worst is when they decide to sing like a black girl (modern) and slur all their words, failing to annunciate anything. Obnoxious over singing is infinitely more tolerable than that.

I like technically good singing but one where the singer doesn't seem to do it "effortlessly"
otherwise I start to take it for granted and it stops being enjoyable

I like good singing but it’s pointless to be an amazing singer and only have boring ass music.

I do like unique voices more generally. For example I love Bob Dylan as a singer and singer writer. I don’t get the hate for his voice - it sounds great on his albums.

I like good singing, but I don't hate bad singing. The worst is mediocre singing or overperformers.

I like anyone who is unique.
I can't stand the singing in modern pop that sounds like a youtube cover or transatlantic plus jamaican whining

No, but I like when the singer actually has a unique voice.

Why the new Caroline Polachek and Kelela albums are boring as fuck. Especially Kelela's constant "oooOOOOoooOOaaAAAaaaAA"

I accept this, only in the sense of being good but then stretching it above their limits so it becomes true even if it's now broken. case in point https://youtu.be/8UVNT4wvIGY?si=qT7nzIb2dlCu5BsS&t=93

Good musicians generally make bad music.
I want to celebrate mediocrity because it makes me feel better about myself.
