Does anyone else hate how they have basically zero real competition?

The MacBooks, watch, AirPods, iPad are by far the best products in their categories and it isn't even close. The iPhone is probably the "weakest" product but the iDomination seems to be getting even bigger as android STILL doesn't reliably come with 5+ years of updates making resale shit and the phone not suitable for long term use.

The only reason they can charge the high base prices and extortionate upgrade prices is because they know that there is no other competitive option available. It's a joke.

Yes I will be buying the iPhone 15 pro for around £1k. No I am not happy about this but there are no alternatives for professionals.

what you mean you don't want to buy a case made by one company, a motherboard made by another company, a processor made by another company, RAM made by another company, an SSD made by another company, a PSU made by another company that runs an OS made by another company that isn't any of the aforementioned companies that also siphons up all your data and sells it to anyone willing to pay for it while also crashing consistently while also having accessories that aren't guaranteed to work and by the way all of these components have separate warranties that may or may not cover certain things and have different lengths of how long the warranty is covered and also the entire device draws more power from your outlet so your hydro bill is more expensive but that's all cool cause fuck that gay homosexual Tim Apple.

The huge ones are the updates/aging well, how smooth they feel and working with other apple products. The overall hardware bundle is also excellent.

Again I don't think they're far superior to everything else like some of the other apple products are, but I don't think there's anything which offers serious competition still.

I have used £200 Chinese phones in the past and they don't offer the same experience at all. Sure it's usable and decent if you want to save money but it definitely isn't as good.

they're not really even comparable tbh.
I have a 14 pro and an s23 ultra and the divergence is such that they fulfil totally different roles.

The 14 pro is the secure one that you do USA business and dating with.
The S23 is the one that can actually connect to e.g. Printers and that I don't have to connect to iTunes to load FLACs onto. If I want to make a program for it I can do that too. And the S-Pen is above Wacom grade tbqh.

For business you need to send texts/call, manage emails, access web. All of that can be done with ANY phone, if you want performance, just buy an android phone that's not shit (so no samsung, lenovo, or any of the cheap phones).

The reason for buying a laptop is to have a carriable PC with you, 8 hours of battery life is more than enough and I don't expect performance from battery power.

to get that 8 hours you need to slow the laptop down to a crawl and turn the screen brightness down so much you can barely even read whats on the screen. why do this to yourself when you can just buy a Macbook that will have twice the battery life while maintaining the same performance as if it was plugged in?

Because I hardly ever use my notebook unplugged, I use it plugged in 90% of the time => no slowdown

you don't use it unplugged because you can't. if you could without any performance loss and without having any battery anxiety im sure you would find more uses for your laptop unplugged.

That may be true, but the actual reason is that I never even needed to use it when not near an outlet. At a university campus? There were tables with chargers, travelling by train, chargers under tables (and more leg space), at a vacation? Hotel has chargers and a table where to sit. I cannot recall a single instance where I wanted to use my laptop and couldn't because there wasn't a charger nearby.

What do you want as a professional?
I bought a Galaxy A54 128gb for 450€ and they gave me also free buds2 pro and a cover. I do everything I need to do, the battery life is good and the sound quality of the buds is perfect. The updates are also guaranteed, my last phone was an old A50 and I was still getting updates. In four to five years I will buy the next galaxy A phone and the total expense would still be cheaper than a single iPhone. Also, the 120Hz display is good, while the base iPhone is stuck at 60Hz, and the One UI + the samsung apps are really nice

I almost want to try a Huawei phone just based on how all-encompassing Google is on any Android phone. Doesn't matter the maker. Smaller makers are actually probably worse since unlike Samsung they don't have house-built dialers and messengers. It's analytics 24/7 and the best you can do is "disable" the apps; on Galaxy phones you can't even uninstall Youtube.

No, they're pushing other companies to make their products markedly worse. All every laptop company cares about now is MUH THINNESS, despite the fact that retards' laptops rarely even leave their damn desk, and having a vague visual resemblance to a Macbook. Apple has done nothing but give them an excuse to copy their mediocre build quality and anti-consumer soldered part bullshit. The only exception is homosexual RGB gaymen laptops, and even these rarely have removable batteries anymore.
The two things that are actually objectively good about Apple laptops (very high DPI and high battery life without xbox hueg batteries) will never become standard, because other laptop brands are crippled by Windows.

That's like saying Ferrari's don't really have any competition
I've had to work with photographers/videographers who lived and died by the Mac, and there's nothing inherently special about them, beyond having the ALT and 'open-Apple' keys swapped. They're expensive toys for rich assholes, and they love over-designing shit for the sake slapping a premium on their hardware.

If you really want to compete against them, donate Windows-based work computers to schools so students don't fucking learn how to Photoshop on Macs.

    >Yes I will be buying the iPhone 15 pro for around £1k. No I am not happy about this but there are no alternatives for professionals.
I recently picked up an Ultra S23 for $500. Unfortunately, it's going to be a glorified burner/travel phone, looks like. This is specifically because in the USA:

    1. Visual Voicemail for low-cost carriers only works via third party apps, and is not integrated into the dialer on Android phones. Apple almost 100% gets it. And uncommonly Pixels do too. In the US there's no base for demand to exist on Android so nobody devs it, these low-cost carriers that exist for 8 years or so at a time. Must be something else too.

2.Talking to realtors/landlords/women via green bubbles is a social faux pas. I know two women with Android phones, one is a meth-head prostitute. The other is a mental patient. Both Black. It's the poor phone for Zoomers and younger.

    3. There are workarounds with apps that let you relay iMessage from a Mac to your Android, and these work well, but that essentially involves setting up a server on a Mac and running it constantly. Bluebubbles, AirMessage, etc.

    4. Applecare outclasses "Samsung Care" every day of the week (which is just in the end Asurion or some other contracted phone insurance company in your area).

    5. You ruin every group message you join with green bubbles. You cannot send or receive videos above flip-phone quality.

iMessage being the standard in the USA is a huge bummer. For professionals, yeah, you need an iPhone. People were hoping that the EU would regulate them but last week they announced that because it only has 40 million active users there, it is not a "core service" and will be passed over in the future regulatory sweep coming concerning communication standards or w/e.

You literally will not find another big company that tries making their tech as easy and simple to use as Apple does. And that's for a big reason. Apple's main consumer is the average person who has very simple demands - an easy to use computer that babysits them, looks nice, can do their Facebooking and send emails to colleagues, maybe play Spotify on their way to work. Microsoft do not care about end users. They care about business consumer demands. Their entire business model is centered around the cloud and Windows is full of shitty legacy features that only exist for enterprise, not for consumer. Google's main goal is to own a monopoly in literally everything, which is why Android (their OS) is on so many different suppliers, just like how Chromebooks are sold by many different OEMs, and every browser these days runs on their engine (Chromium). No other company has the money and brand loyalty to compete with Apple on their own terms, so all of Apple's competition target different terms with different goals.

So Apple's "competition" is looking for consumers that weren't going to buy Apple products in the first place, they're not actively trying to change the minds of Apple product owners, they would just rather make something for a different market entirely.

The biggest outlier here is gamers, but that's mainly because games are complex software and most people looking for the convenience will just buy a console anyway.
