I can see how you could think that since you're only beginning to get into music, but keep refining your taste and you'll see how amazing the others are. They require a lot of introspection and emotional depth to appreciate.

I like harder music than that. Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Staind, bands like that. I’m dead serious, too.

    Entry level "punk" and "goth"
I like most of those albums as much as you do but green day stopped being punk after the 90s, they became commercial and MCR had influences but weren't a punk band themselves.
It isn't that it isn't "real" punk as much as it is pop punk for mall kids.

Listen to Avril's first two CD's, she was the queen of punk. You're the poseur if you don't even know her early stuff, which is her best.

I was a baby in 02 but I can assure you, no punk going to warped tour was into Avril Lavigne, that was teen girl pop music. My generation making Avril the new punk/emo is so bizarre because I had a sister who was that born in 91 and she never listened to Avril Lavigne, my mom liked that shit lol

It always was literal teeny bopper music.
I am not OP but I gave it a chance, since I want to have an open mind about things.
Some songs definitely have a pop punk sound but she was always for suburban white girls.
Punks in the punk scene were listening to far heavier stuff than avril.

Like sure maybe some shitty alt station in 02 gave a play to sk8er boi (a good song mind you, but its not alternative), but looking at radio records a lot of them were playing the used, taking back sunday, sugarcult, sum 41, new found glory, etc, with a mix of indie and a bit of nu metal/buttrock, or other stations were playing buttrock. I looked at my sisters old alt press magazines from the early-late 00's, saw no avril lavigne as far as I can remember. That magazine didn't focus on her until 2022.

Avril is as normie as "pop punk" gets, she was always for normie suburban girls.
The magazines, as if anyone gives a shit about magazines anymore, only fixate on Avril because she is the basis for all the new "Pop Punk" acts who are basically here but updated with face tats and an emo tweaker look.
The new "pop punk" acts are all normies, they're all some form of LGBT, they are all leftists, all hollywood, and all normies, making music for normies.
They don't know shit about pop punk.
      Descendents? Who?
Ramones? Aren't they like the Blitzkreig Bop band? Oh yeah, I know them, they are so punk.
They only know Blink 182 and Sum 41, that is if they know anything about pop punk.
