Dodge just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about American car culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like in the rest of the world where you can become successful by being an butthole. If you screw someone over in America, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the American public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase an electric version of either vehicle, nor will they purchase any of Dodge's cars. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Dodge has alienated an entire market with this move.

Dodge, publicly apologize and cancel your electric car or you can kiss your business goodbye.

      >It's not like in the rest of the world where you can become successful by being an butthole.
What the frick? It is probably the only country where being an butthole to get ahead of others is glorified.

Being an butthole in America is a prerequisite to success. There are no compassionate or relatable millionaires. You’re not American are you?

well now, that was awkwardly ignorant

Yeah bro sure a basement dweller knows better than a billion company executive.

he' right - there's a reason why Dodge thrived on such archaic platforms

Considering the sheer volume of Tesla owners that went to drag strips just to watch performance cars eat shit behind the electric acceleration of their ikea-showroom luxury barge I think this car, which unlike the Tesla is a actively built for stoplight pulls and driving like a fricking lunatic will mutilate anything else on the road not worth hundreds of thousands. I can only assume that vehicle's sole purpose is to accelerate like a cat with an butthole full of lit firecrackers and that it was benchmarked specifically against the Plaid after it embarrassed the Demon/Red-eye/whatever.
If you think everyone will be angry at an automotive /DREADNAUGHT/ instead of dropping everything to show up everyone else in go-fast dick measuring you are delusional. This isn't the end, this is the second beginning. The competition this car will inevitably have will likely necessitate a fricking hans device to drive properly. For a brief glorious before the reigns are tied back in software we will once again have cars that will gladly actively try to kill you, uncontrollably fast and impossible to handle like a Group-B rally car.

Tesla buyers are progressives who will not like the aesthetic of the classical muscle car

      this
lets forget laws and regulations for a second. Tesla makes the most insane car in America performance wise, Model S Plaid. ICE cannot match the performance on the drag strip. Why shouldn't Dodge compete?

Now ending the V8s, that's a different issue, not everyone wants to be the fastest, so it sucks they are forced to not make them anymore. But I don't see any way out of the EV future like it or not. The important part is that car companies continue to provide for the enthusiast market. I'm also hoping fuel cell technology takes off too, we'll get more types of vehicles than BEV

As a stand-alone sure - it wont be able to replace them though, it's not like Hellcats are the moneymakers - basic SRTs are

The Model 3 Performance is both cheaper and faster than a Challenger Hellcat while also having a significantly larger back seat.

You can't hoon a Tesla for more than 5 minutes before the batteries shit themselves and your 3 second 0-60 turns into 7 seconds. An ICE car will give you the same performance every time as long as there's fuel in the car. Battery tech will eventually overtake ICE but that's not anytime soon

There's videos of Teslas completing laps at the Nurburgring with no thermal issues. Battery technology is already in the process of overtaking ICE technology and it's doing so at a greater amount every year.

            z31

takes a performance car waaaaay more laps to get functional heat soak than it does for an EV to lose battery capacity, and heat soak isnt a guarantee compared to the documented issues EVs have once their batteries start to get sweaty. Yes, EVs eventually might be the default system to power cars. They arent now, they wont be any time soon, and anyone convinced otherwise is showing themselves to be not worth talking to.

that is fricken sexy. however I like the old wheels that came stock a few years ago.
in light of dodge being homosexuals and discontinuing the challenger, I decided to stop sitting on my hands and went to build a price a scat pack and found they don't offer pic related on the new models. shame because they gave the charger and challenger a different look, you could see just one wheel and immediately know it was a dodge. these just look like basic b***h foose-tier wheels some Black financed for 36 months.

    >If you screw someone over in America, you bring shame to yourself
That would be Japan. In America it is encouraged for companies to cut corners and generally frick over their consumers as long as the shareholders get their return. There was even a lawsuit back in the day, 'Dodge vs Ford Motor Company' in which the court precedent was set that employees and consumers should be second priority to the desires of the shareholders.

I agree with this anon 100%
The only problem I have with this concept car is the gay-ass fake sounds. It's an electric muscle car, the relative silence is itself a novelty. It doesn't need to pretend to be something it isn't.

Hearing something in a compressed audio file with small speakers isn't the same thing as hearing it in real life. You would need a professional grade audio setup to recreate the 110 dB sound of the Charger's noise maker. Even then you would still be listening to a lossy recording limited by microphones and compression.

      >Dow Chemical still exists
      >Exxon and BP still exist
      >Goldman Sachs and other 2008 adjacent investment funds still exist in the exact same capacity they did when they kickstarted the mortgage crisis
      >All any ISP or cable company do is frick over their customers and tell them to eat shit or go without internet, still operating with basically zero backlash

in america, the only shame is leaving suckers with some of the money in their wallet instead of holding them upside down to shake out their pocket change. the only backlash that matters is shareholders, and youre giving dodge free advertisement by making this thread. is this how shills operate now, they just devil's advocate their way into people defending their company?
