Movies/videos, music, rom sets, books, ai models, images, ISOs (OS and application), full library of software and update files,
Internet could go away tomorrow and I would barely be phased.
I'm old enough to have seen large potions of the internet and the data disappear. The internet is much more ephemeral then people like to think.
If you like something, save it. >You just waste your time!
I do this shit mostly when I'm clocked in to work and have most of it scripted.
Or just set another folder(s) as the entry point? You don't need some limited bespoke music folder taking up space in your home folder/file manager for that.
Hell, if you us a music player, why would you ever need a quick access link to your music folder?
What is living in the Netherlands lime? As an American, I feel like my country is slowly but surely growing into a cultural tumor and wish to one day retire to somewhere else. The Netherlands and Switzerland have always caught my eye.
>Switzerland
We're full.
(I'm not saying this to shun you, there's literally too many fucking people here)
I'm in the Netherlands, we're also full. We're a country of 18 million that yearns to be reduced to an all white population of like 3 million. There's already too many Dutch Dutch people, let alone foreigners.
this is what Google Photos does for me. searching pictures based on what is contained in that picture is the future. otherwise I don't know what my holiday picture with my wife on elephant is called maybe DSC_1969.jpg?
I used to have different folders for different types of media like images, video, literature. But then I realized it's more useful to place things in a category that pertains to them like "Star Trek," "cats," "fantasy" and so on so I can find files related to a topic instead of jumping between /images and /videos to find what I want.
to be fair, a metadata-based filesystem would be better for personal data than a hierarchy-based filesystem, it's just that none exist (as far as i know)
Pictures for unsorted LULZ downloads that I'll "sort later" that inevitably gets slapped in a random folder on my server. Can't wait until AI can reliably sort and organise my shitposting pictures
i would prefer to have only one porn folder but my first and second partitions were physical partitions and i've never moved onto logical volumes or raid so my porn is spread over 9 disks of various sizes
bloated
Everything except Downloads belongs onto a network share
this, literally everything I have downloaded onto my pc is in the downloads folder
?
>rotterdam resident
opinion discarded
>Keeping your data on your system drive
I bet you barely even have anything worth storing
2 drives is bloated
Anon, I have 7 drives in my tower
What do even store? 1000s of gog games?

I use multiple drives and symlink directories in home to elsewhere. Sometimes programs use home dir for stuff and it's nice how things just work.
Weet ik.
I save images to Pictures so that I can actually find my linux ISO's in downloads
Cool desktop. how to do it?
Looks like conky
>Stuff
let me guess, you need "more"
you need 'music' to prevent your music player from scanning shit in other folders
same idea for 'photos'. you gallery app scans it and creates a database of your images without going to other folders
What fucking garbage library programs are you using without a functional white/blacklist?
you set the entrypoint
'music' is entrypoint for music scanning
program will traverse all nested directories
Or just set another folder(s) as the entry point? You don't need some limited bespoke music folder taking up space in your home folder/file manager for that.
Hell, if you us a music player, why would you ever need a quick access link to your music folder?
what are you suggesting?
using 'documents/music' or 'downloads/music'?
it is more bloat than having a top level directory.
Depends, but having top level access to a folder you basically never need to access is a lot of needless clutter.
unconscious incompetence
>Desktop
The only folder you'll ever need.
Krijg de kanker.

naggers and liberals everywhere, but its very functional and society just werks
>Not dumping everything in Desktop
i only use desktop folder, its fastest
gui is bloat
what is Music?
what is Pictures?
what is Movies?
Sub folders in documents
let me open this important document called "Inception.mkv"
Yes?
How about no folder at all, ever, anywhere, and let some kind of ChatGPT sort it out for me when I need shit?
this is what Google Photos does for me. searching pictures based on what is contained in that picture is the future. otherwise I don't know what my holiday picture with my wife on elephant is called maybe DSC_1969.jpg?
good goy. keep feeding the AI.

zoom zoom
you learn what you need, anything else is bloat
>desktop full of icons
>retarded zoomie thinks there's no more space left in their machine
>tries swiping it like a phone home screen

>Home
why have the middlemen?
Those 2 are also bloat.
I put everything on my home folder.
>having folder
Ok boomer.
>looks inside
>folders
is this Mac OS or some shitty Windows / Linux DE theme?
what do you use for the dock and what icon theme is that?
>tries to emulate macOS look
>fails
Just get a Mac

>55% ram usage
>nothing open that should be using half the ram
What are you even doing?
You only need 2 folders
>Porn
>Fucked up porn

rate my folder scheme
sort by file type is the worst possible way to organize your stuff
sort by goal/objective/event instead
