    WTF is "Debian desktop environment"?
I just installed Debian 12 testing, and I just unchecked that and choose KDE Plasma.
    What was it?

It turns itself back on when you check one of the DEs, don't worry about it.

can you just not check anything and just install xserver and wm later

mate what the fuck are you talking about?
Use one of the exec variants marked "p". The letters at the end of the exec syscalls have meaning.

      wikipedia because I am lazy:
      > e – An array of pointers to environment variables is explicitly passed to the new process image.
      > l – Command-line arguments are passed individually (a list) to the function.
      > p – Uses the PATH environment variable to find the file named in the file argument to be executed.
      > v – Command-line arguments are passed to the function as an array (vector) of pointers.

no. dwm for the past 15 years, never going to change. desktop environments are for retards and children, children are just retards so that's redundant. enjoy your bloated widgets, retard

Amen brother. I am a bit more of a pansy - been using openbox for the same amount of time. I don't understand the need for a DE at all.

well, DEs are for widget retards and windows brainlets. they need their clock widget and their weather widget and think MUH TILING MANAGER HARD, I DON'T WANT TO LEARN A PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE TO CONFIGURE IT. uh but you don't. in fact, i literally don't configure dwm at all. zero. but again, the retard DE shills will lie and say you do need to. that's because they're trying to make tiling managers become their retarded DE. DE retards are hopefully pathetic idiots with massive baby duck syndrome. they will continue to argue MUH KDE VS MUH GNOME until they die, never realizing both are shit and you should never ever use them. dwm uses 2mb ram, zero cpu, installs in literally 1 second, works on all machines and all distros, is always latest version, ultra fast, zero bullshit in your way. DE retards are eternal cuckolds

i don't know how you can live without a clock

i tried going for an undecorated, no panel environment and i quickly missed it.

i have a clock, you have no fucking clue about anything related to tiling managers, clearly. just because you don't have your bloated buggy malware clock doesn't mean i don't have a clock

i used dwm for 3 years dude. you implied you had no clock which is retarded.

nope, i didn't imply that at all, you assumed that like a tard. i have a clock on my dwm bar, just like everyone else that uses dwm

I use a DE because I don't like doing any customization at all and prefer if my desktop looks good by default. Again, using a window manager doesn't make you smarter. it just means you like using your computer in a way you're more comfortable with. The different desktops and window managers are about designing something that people will be comfortable with. Not everybody is an ultra minimalist who only wants to use Suckless shit. I get that you don't exactly like outside opinions, but still. You're acting like a toddler when it's told that it can't have candy for dinner.

            >Again, using a window manager doesn't make you smarter.
no one said it did except you, moron
            >You're acting like a toddler
            said the toddler
            >when it's told that it can't have candy for dinner.

Making your computer purposefully harder to use makes you look more like a tranny and less like the smart person you think it makes you look like. Making a computer harder to use just to look smart to your nonexistent friends is simply retarded.

        >Making your computer purposefully harder to use
        >using dwm is hard
uh, it's literally easier than whatever you're doing. but go ahead, tell me how its hard. you won't

This is bullshit. I use a window manager as well, and it's not "easier" at all. A DE will handle all sorts of things for you. Plugged a USB drive into your machine? Go find and mount it manually. Or else you have to write a script. Or find and install multiple libraries to get the capacity to have it auto-mount to a /media dir or similar. Now rinse and repeat for dozens of topics.

i can tell you're a super brainlet. this has nothing whatsoever to do with your fucking DE/tiling manager you stupid strawman homosexual
            >Or find and install multiple libraries to get the capacity to have it auto-mount to a /media dir or similar. Now rinse and repeat for dozens of topics.
literally nothing to do with your DE/WM. you are a super retard and don't even know how your computer works lol

Yes, just like GNOME software relies on GTK.

Thanks, that's what I figured. I didn't see them expressly mentioning it anywhere, and didn't want to look through a bunch of repos to be sure.

yup, absolute garbage. tiling managers like dwm don't at all. only 2000 lines of code

KDE makes more than Plasma, though. I'm using a WM as well, Sway, but I might still want to install some application made by KDE in the future. At the moment I haven't needed to put any version of Qt on my system yet, though.
